Capcom Expects Big Sales From Resident Evil 6

Capcom predicts sales of Resident Evil 6 will top 7 million units in its upcoming fiscal year and become the best-selling game in the company's history.

The projections were revealed during Capcom's latest earnings release, where the company also expects to sell 2 million units of Devil May Cry, 1.5 million of Dragon's Dogma, and 1.4 million of Lost Planet 3.

Capcom's current best-selling game is the Super Nintendo version of Street Fighter II with 6.3 million units sold. Resident Evil 5 is second sold 5.8 million units. Christian Svensson of Capcom U.S.A said Resident Evil 6 is already off to the best start in the franchise's history.

  • I'm telling you, it's gonna' suck.
  • As they should.  It'll do well no matter what.

  • I dunno about 7 million units but I'm probably picking it up, it should be a pretty fun experience :)

  • 7 million is a ton but hey you never know. I'm picking up Dragon's Dogma in 11 days so I can my hands on the demo then we'll see if I'm buying it.

I have to hold off because I pre-ordered DD and Max Payne 3.

  • All I know is that I'm picking it up on launch day.
  • They talk like there is buzz about RE6 but no, there really isn't. Sure people are talking about it... with words, but people are doing the same over Mass Effect 3's ending. Everything everyone is saying is negative, and that's not good.

It would also help if their game's logo wasn't a giraffe man doing something inappropriate with someone.

  • I'm only going to buy it if they finally get rid of the archaic control system. Come on capcom, it's 2012 not 1996.
  • Of course they're expecting major sales. Only in an alternate universe would they lose with a Resident Evil sequel.

  • I'll buy it

  • We will see Capcom, we will see...

  • This is gonna be game of year for me, unless GTA 5 comes out, which it won't , Rockstar does one game a year, thats so they'r consistent with there success and games sales, which gives them the income to live PHAT in NYC.... and elsewhere

  • That's a bit lofty... 7 million in one year?  I mean I hope it performs well and I'll certainly be getting it.  But they've gotta be reasonable.  I think the best life time Resident Evil game was 2 and it had under 6 million in life time totals.  Maybe 4 is up there if you count all versions of the game.

  • I reserved my copy so yes I would have to agree that is a true statement

  • Well, they better make a game first that lives up to that sales expectation. XD
  • I'm super excited for this game. I'm just curious as to what happened to Resident Evil Portable for the PSP.

  • Yes we do CAPCOM Yes we do

  • Dragons Dogma was an awful demo, Devil May Cry is no longer Devil May Cry & Resident Evil 6 looks great as long as they stay away from their co-op style gameplay.

  • Don't fail me now Capcom!!!

  • I have a feeling Dragon's Dogma will trounce the DMC remake. As far as E 6... they are basing it on RE 5 and RE 6 being a sequel to that game that sold apparently 5.8 million. That's fine... but i'm still far more interested in Dragon's Dogma. I'll only be getting RE 6 is Co-Op remains as that was the only reason I got and play RE 5.
