Capcom Expects Big Sales From Resident Evil 6

Capcom predicts sales of Resident Evil 6 will top 7 million units in its upcoming fiscal year and become the best-selling game in the company's history.

The projections were revealed during Capcom's latest earnings release, where the company also expects to sell 2 million units of Devil May Cry, 1.5 million of Dragon's Dogma, and 1.4 million of Lost Planet 3.

Capcom's current best-selling game is the Super Nintendo version of Street Fighter II with 6.3 million units sold. Resident Evil 5 is second sold 5.8 million units. Christian Svensson of Capcom U.S.A said Resident Evil 6 is already off to the best start in the franchise's history.

  • According to what exactly?
  • Probably consumer interest and the amount of hype that is surrounded by the project at the moment. If this game goes back to a similar style and fresh gameplay that 4 brought I would have no doubt it will sell like hot cakes.

  • AS LONG AS ITS LIKE RESIDENT EVIL 4. IM GOOD. IT NEEDS TO.BE BACK TO THE OLD ROOTS THOUGH
  • Capcom expects RE6 to do well... in other obvious news I expect my shower to be wet.
  • wow. i never realized that capcom never sold anything up to 7 million units. i would have figured that resident evil 4 would have sold more than 5.
  • I'm buying Dragon's Dogma for sure. That game is gonna be dope.
  • Resident Evil can almost always count on fan support, the problem is getting new people on the train.
  • I don't know about that...The buzz for RE6 is almost nonexistent. People are pretty bummed that its just a straight up action game, and none of my mega RE fan friends are excited about it. You'll get 3 million tops.
  • I already pre-ordered dragons dogma
  • I don't know if it'll reach that high, even though I'm sure it's going to be and sell better than RE5, but I'm certainly more hyped for the game after the last trailer.
  • i still do not understand the controls in this series.. RE 5 was by far my worst experience just due to the difficult controls. i hope this is a better version coming.
  • Ooooh that confident are we Capcom?? Considering lately you guys have been missing the mark (making a well respected survival horror formula into a generic action shooter) a lot, perhaps you guys should be a little more cautious.
  • I really hope this too be true, but really can't see it selling that high. I do have high hopes for this game and want Capcom to do well in its upcoming fiscal year. I want this to succeed!

  • http://tinyurl.com/goodb4biz    . . . . . .. . .

  • I'm predicting 2-3 million.
  • That seems like a lot of units to bet on. RE5 may give them a good indication but I'm wouldn't bet so heavily on a past game representing a future one. FPS' are about the only exception to that, as people know what they're getting when they order CoD, Halo, or other really online multiplayer heavy games.
  • Okay...Resident Evil is really darn fun and all. But, seriously, topping 7 million? That's pushing it a bit, in my opinion.

  • Duh!
