CosBlog # 77: Lightning Farron by Eclair

Final Fantasy’s Lightning Farron returned looking much fiercer in XIII-2. Cosplayer Eclair specializes in costumes of the pink-haired protagonist, and captured her new armored look to perfection. Check out the impressive craftsmanship below.

Who: The Character
The character is Lightning Farron from Final Fantasy XIII-2.

Why: The Decision
I chose Lightning because I feel similar to her, and feel that her story was similar to mine. This is the fourth version I’ve made of her.

What: The Process
Well, I didn’t have much time for the cosplay, and made it in about three months. The main material I used is a special plastic called “forex” that is modeled with heat. The weapon and shield were made with wood. There isn’t an overly “difficult part.” It was hard work, but I enjoy doing armor.

Where and When: The Debut
I wore the costume at a convention in October called “Romics.” My friend and I did a photoshoot at Lucca Comics in 2011.

Comments
  • I don't get how you make that

  • I find avocado pecan pie a delicacy.
  • Giggity!
  • I think she looks fine. Another good Cosblog.
  • She deserves a medal.
  • Whoa, this is a REALLY good cosplay, I'm very impressed.

  • I'm sorry but that second picture from the bottom makes him/her look like a transgender.
  • I'm a huge fan of FFXIII so I have to give this a good and honest critique. Costume: B. It looks like some hard work was put into it, but it just looks like a costume. Superior cosplay outfits transcend costume and look like they stole the actual armor from the character. Plus the outfit does not even fit her properly. Model: D. I know not every person (including myself) is blessed with incredible looks in the face, but you need to at least match the body type. also you have to understand presence and poise. The poses are stale. The photo with the sword in the air is far from inspiring. It looks like your poking at some bird. Photography: D-. Its the worst part of the cosplay. Lack of imagination. And worse, terrible photoshop skills. Besides that, I appreciate your hard work and love you put into making a cosplay.
  • If I die and go to Valhalla, I want to see this kinda face greeting me. . .
  • Can I have that sword? Please?
  • That's pretty awesome

  • "Gender Female"

I may be blind (in fact, I'll admit to it), but how is everyone sure this is a dude? Can't speak Italian, and it's a little difficult reading the English, but looking at the images... looks like a chick to me. Go down to the Comicon photos on the blog.

    Awk. n_n
  • This is cosplay, not a chauvinist modeling competition, people. Also, I, for one, like the detail on the weapon. Pretty sa-weet.
  • Really awesome! Huge fan of Final Fantasy. That is really good, some shots better than others, but still.. sweet!

  • All of these comments are so funny.

  • I wish I had the patience and skill to design cosplays like this, mine are simplistic but stand out.  Bravo to those who are talented!

  • Beautiful.

  • Really like the costume, except for the boots. Most of those pictures are pretty good too, except for one of the close ups. Lighting is one of my favorite female video game characters, so it's great to see some well made cosplay.

  • I hate cosplay

  • You people are a bunch of *** haters! I swear. This IS a girl. Says her name is "Eclair" I believe. She specializes in cosplay. Put a lot of work into this costume. Crafted it HERSELF. You people just troll the *** out of her because its something you will never be able to do yourselves. Stop *** bashing people for *** you could NEVER *** do better. Bitches.
