The lights are on
Sony's PS3 had an internet browser since day one, and a recent rumor suggests that Microsoft's Xbox 360 is finally getting one of its own.
The Verge, citing multiple sources, has a rumor that the system will get a fully functional Internet Explorer browser that can be controlled via Kinect voice and motion gestures (but Kinect will not be mandatory). The 360 currently only has a Bing search for media.
If this is true, E3 would be as good a time as any to announce this move.
In these days of tablets and smart phones, does anyone care about a browser on their system anymore?
Email the author Matthew Kato, or follow on Twitter, and Game Informer.
Now you get to attempt at navigating the internet with the shittiest device (Kinect) and the shittiest web browser (IE)!!!! Yayyy!!!!
That's fine as long as it's not a complete piece of *** like the PlayStation 3's browser. Dear god, that thing's horrible
who would ever want IE on there pc let alone console
yes. i would love it
I could pull out my laptop and intuitively use Google Chrome or I could attempt to navigate Internet Explorer with clunky controls. I love choices.
i wasn't impressed with the ps3 browser...so maybe the 360's will be better. Doubt I'd use it though.
It may be late for that, but somehow it may have it's magic. But please Microsoft, don't leave the "Internet Explorer" brand once it pops in the Xbox dashboard.
could i delete it and download google chrome?
Great, like i didnt already have enough devices to watch porn on.
Only cool if the xbox gets full keyboard functionality
Oh wow that's nice, a bit late but this is probably just a beta version they're testing for the next xbox.
Either way sounds great.
I think that this is awesome. I hope it is a better browser than on other consoles. I am a Nintendo fan myself, but the most agrivating thing about the Xbox, is that it dosen't have something the Nintendo DS had. I hope that, most of all, that you can use voice commands for the search, so that you don't have to use the controler to search, and as I have recently gotten a Kenict, I agree it isn't as crappy as the eyetoy, I still prefer the wii motion controls, but I am still glad about the motion controls.
Internet Explorer. Really. Internet Explorer is the second to worst browser (Safari is the worst because nothing loads with it). Google Chrome and Firefox are WAY better than Internet Explorer. Hopefully, you'll be able to download Google Chrome or Firefox from Internet Explorer onto your XBOX 360.
Oh god. Great for some people, but not great for most who probably just don't care.
Well, it will allow me to say "Yes" when customers ask if the XBox 360 has teh internets. I wonder if it will require XBox Live Gold in order to function?
Yay! Now I'll have to wait for it load before I can close it when I accidentally click on it!
In these days of the personal computer, tactile keyboard, and mouse, using clumsy motion controls through a console with ridiculously slow download speeds sounds like a plan.
