The lights are on
Dead Space 3 is apparently getting drop-in, drop-out cooperative multiplayer, new gameplay elements and enemies, and a new weapon system.
According to sources speaking to IGN, Dead Space 3, which has not been formally announced, will feature a cooperative mode that mirrors the single-player campaign. If you're playing co-op, you'll still experience the same scenes and events in single-player, but with a partner.
Isaac Clarke can fight alongside a man with "a gnarly scar on his face, an engineering RIG of his own, and glowing red eyes peering from his helmet." This suggests he may not be a character in the physical world but instead part of Isaac's imagination.
As for enemies, Isaac will now fight humans for the first time. The report also confirms the game is set on a icy planet, which surfaced in a rumor last year. EA said earlier this week it will release a new Dead Space title sometime before March 2013, but would not say it's Dead Space 3.

Time to destroy another marker! Get me my plasma cutter.
maybe there will be more of an open world enviroment in this game.
That's a really risky move.. I love co-op, but to me it seems like the atmosphere of the series is at risk. Throw in the fact that Isaac is going to throw down with some human enemies and this to me sounds like a soul beginning to be put for sale. Sorry for the negativity, I just happen to be a former RE fanboy.
It's alright as long as it's an extra game mode. I don't want to babysit anyone in the SP campaign (don't want it to go down the RE road).
While I find the idea of co-op awesome, I would rather have it as a separate mode, not part of the single player.
I like this idea more than competitive multiplayer.
Unless it's Splinter Cell stealth, I rather do these things on my own.
