Activision said its newly-launched Call of Duty online service Elite has 10 million registered users, with two million of those being paid, premium annual memberships.

This is an increase of approximately 33 percent from January 31, 2012. Additionally, Activision said as of March 31, 2012, the Call of Duty franchise had approximately 40 million monthly active users and players have logged more than 1.6 billion hours of online gameplay of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

Activision will launch Call of Duty: Black Ops II on November 13, 2012.

  • thats a ton of players
  • That's a whole lotta Call of Duty users. Stands in high contrast to Portal just breaking 4 million purchases.
  • I think more than anything else, I'm excited to hear about Elite 2.0 with regard to Black Ops 2.
  • 10 million moron march. March of the end of a f**king cliff.
  • 2 million people truly overpaid......
  • What a shame. 10 million CoD players and 4 million copies of Portal sold.

    Gamers, I am disappoint.
  • It's not good. I have the premium part and it still is horrid. Almost as bad as EA Support.

  • The two million wasted their money for a stupid service. There's barely been any updates, good on ya activision for milking even harder. -_-
  • I'm one of the 10 million registered users but mine is the free version. Activision is never getting my money.
  • I want to hear about Elite 2.0, right now.
  • What a waste of money.
  • I still don't think it's worth it.

  • God, the Call of Duty hate just keeps getting worse and worse. Hell, they announced a free DLC for MW3 today, and I doubt anyone will even look at that. As far as Elite goes, the premium service doesn't offer much aside from discounted DLC. I hope they change that with Elite 2.0.
  • i think I oerpaid for the elite package. And the game would not be as half bad if activision rule out campers in some way!! Can't stand it.
  • Activision, milking customers dry since MW2.
  • I can't say I used elite for more than 5 minutes honestly. There isn't anything that appeals whatsoever. I wonder how Activision can broaden their horizon at this point. As for black ops II, there is no prestige edition for order. Perhaps Elite will play a bigger role in its release, if any.
  • I have it, and it's been worth it for Spec Ops alone. I have over 24 hours logged in Spec Ops, with the majority of that being in Survival, which I play split screen with a friend when he comes over.I'm not sold on black Ops yet, as I haven't liked a Treyarch CoD game yet, but if I were to purchase it, I would renew my subscription.

  • Wow! 1.6 Billion hours of MW3? That's a lot of hours. I didn't go with the paid subscription for MW3 but I probably will when Black Ops 2 comes out.
