Spec Ops: The Line Demo Now Available

We're about a month-and-a-half from Spec Ops: The Line's June 26 release, but you can get a free look at the game a little early. A demo has been launched today on Xbox Live and Playstation Network, and it focuses on two early chapters in the single-player campaign.

The demo is only available to Xbox Live Gold members at this time, but it will open up to everyone with an internet connection on May 15.

Let us know what you think of the demo in the comments below.

  • Great. I can't wait. This looks great.

  • How odd, they usually like to put out demos months AFTER everyone already purchased the game.  I'm looking at you Gears 3.

  • Cool but my Gold ran out and I'm not renewing it until the fall so I guess I will wait for May 15th. Oh wait I guess I could burn one of these 24 hour passes you get with games.

  • May 15th! That's the day Max Payne 3 comes out! I'll probably download the demo now, like I was planning on doing when I read the title. I'm just excited about Max Payne

  • Downloading now! this will probably determine whether or not I buy this, lets hope its good.

    UPDATE:
I really enjoyed the demo. Very solid mechanics, great visuals and an interesting story so far. The squad commands aren't much but I find myself actually using them and when I paint a target he quickly gets focused by my squad. Definitely worth checking out for shooter fans.
  • I'm glad they have a demo so I can make up my mind about buying the game.

  • Never understood the point of making a demo exclusive to Live Gold members for a short time, oh well that's what PSN is for!

  • I don´t see the demo available for ps3.Looking foward to try this game but I´m even more exicted about dragon´s dogma, so first it´s dragon´s dogma then in xtmas time is tomb raider, AC revelations and AC3 and this one and resident evil operation raccoon city will be for last.
  • Might check it out tomorrow.

  • zipline!

  • Meh.  It feels like a mash up of COD and Gears of War with more likeable characters (the initial banter between the other two members of your squad was kinda funny), but the setpieces aren't nearly as epic.  Personally, if they're going to tell the story Heart of Darkness, then why not just acquire the rights to Apocalypse Now?  I'll wait for this one to hit the bargain bin.

  • It wasn't bad.  Didn't feature as much Alice in Chains in the soundtrack as I was hoping (read: None).

Definitely didn't get a must buy vibe from this though.

  • I enjoy it.  It's kinda like Gears of War had sex with Modern Shooters and the end result isn't that bad.  I had fun playing through it, and may purchase it but am only going to be certain of my decision when I find out how long the game actually is (because the Demo takes place in "Chapter 5" and the gameplay was relatively easy and linear, as in aim shoot or the original "a lot of bad guys, shoot red barrels").

  • This game is decidedly average. It will get a metacritic score of 7.5.
  • i thought it was actually really good better than expected.

  • Not for psn? really cause I just downloaded it...

  • This game looks fun with setting as DUBAI environment plays a vital role in this game...

  •  I have downloaded this but not yet played it, I will be watching the livestream of multiplayer tomorrow. So who knows, maybe something i never heard of will become my new purchase:)

  • I'll check it out

  • Overall, the demo was better than I thought. The story was engaging and combat felt very tense at times. The voice work is superb and the environments look great. The only real downside is the cover system is very glitchy making basic maneuvers difficult at times.
