The lights are on
When I first saw the box art for the upcoming Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why'd You Steal Our Garbage?!, I didn't know what the hell I was looking at. Some weird marshmallow guy is riding on a dead dog thing, and the Snow Miser from The Year Without A Santa Claus is hanging out behind a fat hooker in the background. Upon reading the press release for the game, I only understand slightly more.
You see, Adventure Time is apparently a show on Cartoon Network. According to the press release, the plot of the game is as follows:
In the first licensed Adventure Time video game, Finn and Jake wake up one morning to find their trash stolen by the Ice King. Jake couldn’t care less about half-eaten bananas, crumpled up burrito wrappers, and old chicken diapers – but when they find out the Ice King is using their stolen goods to construct a Garbage Princess, the heroes embark on a fantastical adventure to teach him a lesson!
It goes on to promise an "action-adventure experience" as players lead Finn and Jake through the Land of Ooo in their quest to defeat the Ice King. The game is being developed by WayForward, and it's heading to both DS and 3DS this fall.

I just got excited for owning a DS again...
Adventure Time game? Why not! The child side of me is truly excited for this game. The weird title just makes it all the better!
Both DS and 3DS? Okay then?
I don- Wayforward!
Well I don't have much of a choice.
I still don't think I'll ever understand this show...but the plot for this game just seems a little weird, even for Adventure Time.
*gets ready to speak* Ah-...
... ... I cant make a comment...
Well it's being developed by WayForward, and they are one of the few developers known to legitimately never make terrible games, so I'm confident this will be another good one.
Don't liek the show, one big mindfuck/acid trip.
That said, the game may be decent. I played the Shantae DSi game, gave it an 8.5 out of 10. And This is being made by the same developer.
Wow, Dan. If you dont know what Adventure Time is you have seriously lost the pulse of sup-pop culture, something that makes Game Informer so relevant to not just video games but the culture around it. Even though this is a brief write-up preview on this upcoming title I find it amazing your editor allowed this to be published, when you literally know nothing about what you are writing. Adventure Time draws HUGE crowds at cons across the country, so I don't know if you are just blissfully ignorant or trying to be borderline insulting because you think its lame and you don't understand it. Either way, Game Informer, please have a writer with a the knowledge about the topic to write these mini-articles next time. Keep Dan caged to the WWF, Terminator 2 and Link to The Past articles that need to be written.
Well, it's being developed by Wayforward, so expect some form of quality out of this game. I'm not saying Wayforward is bad, i'm saying licensed games are bad, but letting a really good developer handle them is a good idea because it makes them usually better than most licensed games. So in short, this game will at least be a little fun to look into.
I have to say I'm about as confused as you are, Dan. That plot sounds ridiculous!
I wonder if this is the type of game Adventure Time fans want, but of course the details of the game are slim at the moment, so who knows? I'm sure plenty of kids will purchase the game regardless.
I don't own a 3DS, but I want this game to be good.
So it's got a mark of badassery now?
Meh, can be either good or bad. As much as I love the show, most of the newer episodes don't amuse me as much as the old ones (ex: city of theives). What I would LOVE is an action RPG with the open world of Ooo. Be able to purchase gear for gear for Finn and Jake as well as upgrade their weapons, be able to travel the land and help people in Ooo for help, heck make it like Skyrim but less violent and with Adventure Time (but not glitchy lol). I don't know if its just me, or Finn and Jake seem like the perfect adventurers that would be perfect for this kind of game (considering they love adventuring and love helping people)
Dan, Dan, I'm pretty disappointed. This show is freakin awesome.
WayForward, huh? Then it's probably going to be good. Most of their stuff is.
what a dumb name.
