Microsoft Confirms $99 Subscription Xbox 360

The rumors were true. Microsoft today confirmed a $99 subscription-based console available at its U.S. stores. In order to redeem the deal, you must bring the coupon seen here to a participating Microsoft store.

The deal requires customers to sign up for a 2-year subscription to Xbox Live Gold at $14.99 per month. The console is a 4GB Xbox 360 and includes Kinect.

Early termination fees apply, which you can read about here.

  • Everyone saying this is a scam can just shut the hell up. Did you ever stop and think that maybe this is meant for people who don't have a lot of money to drop on an Xbox all at once? That's a $300+ console with a $150 Kinect for only $99. It's like layaway for an Xbox. It's for people who cannot afford a full $400+ all at once. People who possibly live pay check to pay check and even though this is technically more expensive in the long run, it's easier for them to do than blowing a ton of money at once.

If you have an Xbox, good for you. This doesn't concern you in the slightest then does it? Also, who gives a crap if this is a way for them to sell more Kinect's? Last time I checked, Microsoft didn't need any help with the fastest selling consumer electronics device in history. I own one and it's fun. People need to take the hardcore stick out of their ass and try something that's actually fun once in a while instead of trying to be "***" at CoD all the time.
  • so its 99$ while simultaneously being 440$

    *** off microsoft

  • Xbox 360 slim 250 gb plus Live Gold for a year= $360

    Xbox 360 slim 4 gb plus live for 2 years= $450

    Live for a year doubled= 120

    360+120=480

You are not saving anything because there is no deal like this so what is it? A benefit or a deterance?

  • Wow... Just buy the console, and you'll get a better long time deal. I guess they think that cell-phone subscription fees will work for consoles, too.

  • Hmm, I wonder if anyone noticed that its only Valid at 1 of the 21 Microsoft Stores in the US.  Doesn't seem like its to accessible for everyone.

  • worse deal ever

  • Apple is everywhere in NYC yet M$ has not one store in the big apple. And so you eventually pay full price for the console and still only have 4gigs?
  • Microsoft is in way over its head man.

  • this is the worse deal ever, who on his right mind will sign such an idiotic deal for a 4gb xbox and get stuck with them for 2 years and end up paying more than needed? the console is affordable at 199$ and can be even bought cheaper...15$x24 is 360$ before taxes. not worth the admission price. any normal person would avoid this like the plague. people dont sign up and dont give them your credit card or chequing account on this garbage of a deal...

  • No matter how you look at this, it's a terrible idea. I just wonder who it was in marketing you came up with this idea. Better yet, I wonder who actually gave that idea the green light.

  • So theres still people out there without xboxs? huh....who knew...

  • This is actually pretty damn funny when you think about it.

To actually get this, you need to find a Microsoft store, and there's only 21 of them, I'm not saying 21 stores a state, I mean 21 all together. Plus you will need a certain coupon.

So I highly doubt they will sell many of this bundle.
So for the people complaining this is a terrible deal, pretty much no one will be able to find it anyway.
  • You'll end up spending more than you would without the deal. It literally isn't even a deal.

  • haha thats the silliest thing I've ever heard

  • Eat sh*t, Microsoft.

  • Nope

  • WTF ARE THOSE IDIOTS AT MICROSOFT EFFIN NUTS, EPIC FAIL MICROSOFT. GLAD TO BE JOINING TEAM PS3 REALLY SOON

  • This "deal" is ridiculous; microsoft trying to squeeze every drop of juice out of that orange.

  • Whatever the lead marketing rep for MS is smoking....can I get some? :)

  • i feel kind of sorry for all the people who will get ripped off by this thinking they are getting a deal.
