The lights are on
The rumors were true. Microsoft today confirmed a $99 subscription-based console available at its U.S. stores. In order to redeem the deal, you must bring the coupon seen here to a participating Microsoft store.
The deal requires customers to sign up for a 2-year subscription to Xbox Live Gold at $14.99 per month. The console is a 4GB Xbox 360 and includes Kinect.
Early termination fees apply, which you can read about here.

This is stupid and really srews the customer, not that Microsoft cares.
Okay, so they're charging you $458.76 ($359.76 in subscription plus the $99 for the unit)over the life of the contract for a stripped down Xbox? Ugh. Here's hoping this fails, I'd hate for this model to get any traction.
This Xbox is a great console...in some respects. But this?! This "deal" just makes Microsoft look like a bunch of assholes.
What a bad deal.
Rip off
When I heard "$99 Xbox" a little while back, I immediately moved the money from checking to savings, waiting for the day that it would actually hit shelves. Now that they've revealed the catch, I will be leaving that money there and use it towards the Wii U and Darksiders II on launch day this fall. There are no words to describe how stoked I am for that game.
So you pay a total of about 458 dollars for the console and 2 years of xbox live. How is that a good deal?
so... $99+$14.99*24=$458.76 ??
Clever Microsoft, it adds up to $360.
F that dude
....meh. I mean ok some people may not be able to pay upfront. But if you cant, whats wrong with saving your money until you can?
I wonder who is going to get this "deal".
This would be great if it wasn't a 4GB model. Just not worth it.
I feel sad for the people that are going to buy this.
thieves.
So with the $99 plus the $15 a month you are looking at $459. And it's only 4 gigs. Definitely a rip-off if you ask me.
$460 for a $150 console, makes no sense.
