The lights are on
Nintendo's creative visionary says that the powerful Sony handheld isn't "a very strong product."
While Miyamoto isn't known weighing in on his competitors, he definitely seems to have a low opinion of the Vita in a new interview with EDGE magazine.
When asked his opinion of the Vita, he commented, "It's obviously a very high-spec machine and you can do lots of things with it, but I don't really see the combination of software and hardware that really makes a very strong product."
He added, "But I can't really say."
Mr. Miyamoto, I think you just did.
However, he also acknowledged Nintendo's own mistakes in the launch of its 3DS handheld. Miyamoto said, "When we launched the 3DS hardware we didn't have Super Mario 3D Land, we didn't have Mario Kart 7, we didn't have Kid Icarus: Uprising. We were striving to have all of these ready for the launch, but we weren't able to deliver them at that time."

I see Miyamoto's point. Somehow, the Vita just doesn't have that "gotta have it" factor. The hardware is nice, the price is good, the games are decent, but I don't feel that I must find a way to own one. I do believe that the 3DS is stronger right now. Maybe that's because of the huge DS catalog of software. It' hard to say. But Sony definitely is going to have to step up their game.
Well he's being honest, the Vita is floundering...
Not really that big of a deal. He does have a point with the Vita not having the most amazing line up of games, but then again, that's the same issue with the 3Ds imo, and that doesn't even have the tech potential the vita does.
I do hope the vita ends up doing well, because I want devs to succeed when they invest in innovative and high tech gadgets. And I'm not impressed with the 3DS tech wise.
Well once call of duty comes out on the vita it will take the 3ds down!
This is one of those "oh no you didn't" moments... LOL!... Anyways, although I think Sony is a good company, I do agree with Shigeru Miyamoto. The PSVita just doesn't have a good software line-up at the moment, and it can be a great portable if only it had better software.
I think the Vita looks pretty awesome.
The Vita itself is awesome, and as soon as the games are there (if they ever are) I will buy one.
lol, how is this taking a shot at the Vita?? flame bait. This is very tame, and still an honest opinion and he's being humble about it also stated the flaws that 3DS had. It's not like Sony's C E O, *emphasis on CEO* Jack Tretton making extremely childish, and extremely fanboyish, snotty, uncalled for remarks towards Nintendo and Microsoft. Where was your article about Jack Tretton taking shots at Nintendo when he said, "Our view of the ‘Game Boy experience’ is that it’s a great babysitting tool, something young kids do on airplanes, but no self-respecting twenty-something is going to be sitting on an airplane with one of those. He’s too old for that."??? This guy is making his entire company look bad. he also had this to say about the Kinect: "Motion gaming is cute, but if I can only wave my arms six inches, how does this really feel like I’m doing true accurate motion gaming?" Where was that article, GameInformer?? Motion gaming is cute??? YOU IDIOT, YOU HAVE A MOTION GAMING PERIPHERAL WII REMOTE RIP OFF THAT YOU ARE DESPERATELY TRYING TO SELL. TO MAKE STUPID REMARKS LIKE THAT MAKES YOU LOOK SO BAD.
How is it "taking a shot" when he's saying the exact same thing consumers are with their wallets?
Flame bait and a half. This wasn't harsh at all and Miyamoto is the man. How dare you tarnish The Creator's name. How dare you!
Im not a nintendo fan boy, but why blow it up? He's just trying to frickin hurt sony
