The lights are on
Nintendo's creative visionary says that the powerful Sony handheld isn't "a very strong product."
While Miyamoto isn't known weighing in on his competitors, he definitely seems to have a low opinion of the Vita in a new interview with EDGE magazine.
When asked his opinion of the Vita, he commented, "It's obviously a very high-spec machine and you can do lots of things with it, but I don't really see the combination of software and hardware that really makes a very strong product."
He added, "But I can't really say."
Mr. Miyamoto, I think you just did.
However, he also acknowledged Nintendo's own mistakes in the launch of its 3DS handheld. Miyamoto said, "When we launched the 3DS hardware we didn't have Super Mario 3D Land, we didn't have Mario Kart 7, we didn't have Kid Icarus: Uprising. We were striving to have all of these ready for the launch, but we weren't able to deliver them at that time."

Well... Seems like Miyamoto must have been put in an awkward situation during that interview, to say such negative things about the Vita AND the 3DS. Weird.
You can read this information @ Joystiq, where thy don't kame Miyamoto sound like a Dick. What he said was that the PS Vita is in a similar spot as th 3DS when it first released, IE: great hardware, crappy games. here, just go here: www.joystiq.com/.../miyamoto-equates-vitas-bumpy-start-with-that-of-the-3ds
Matt Helgeson- obviously a Nintend hater. The only difference between him and the waves of biased, mindless Nintendo haters is that this one gets payed to write down his biased opinions. I wouldn't call this "taking a shot" at the Vita. He's obviously trying to make Nintendo look bad. well, lets see, where was your article when Jack Tretton, Sony's CEO called the 3DS "a baby sitting tool," and that "no self respecting twenty-something year old would be seen with one"? where was your "Sony's Jack Tretton takes shots at Microsoft" article when he said "motion gaming is cute," and then went on to trash the Kinect?? yeah, more stupid biased, pointless hate for Nintendo. Way to go, Matt you piece of poop.
It's funny, I was thinking the same thing about the Wii.
Because the 3DS Is TOTALLY a much stronger product. LOL no.
I can't help but agree...
Huh. I sold my 3DS to get a Vita. Couldn't be happier with the swap. The 3DS was pretty miserable for 3D, the software selection was thin and the hardware just wasn't very powerful. The vita has it's problems too, but I enjoy it MUCH more. It's nice to be able to take console caliber gaming with me. And it's nice to play a console quality game while my wife is using the TV. Lol.
At least he is being honest about his opinion.
Miyamoto, you are officially my hero.
There is not a single game on the Vita right now that would justify me buying one. I don't want to pay that much money for a system who's game roster I can already play in one version or another on my PS3. Also I don't really "game on the go". If I did, I would get carsick. I play my 3DS on my couch lol so portable gaming is kinda pointless for me I guess. I don't like that Miyamoto said this though because he represents Nintendo and I equate them to always taking the higher ground and not participating in competitor trash talk. That's kinda what makes me like Nintendo because they're secure with being different and trash talk can make a company look the opposite.
You also didn't have a second circle pad. I'm not interested in the Vita right now but I would take over the 3DS any day.
Sounds like Kaz will be pissed about what Miyamoto said about the Vita!
I am always on Nintendo's side, I own all their current and last gen systems, but the Vita is pretty strong in my opinion. With hit first-party and third-party titles already available at launch, Uncharted, Modnation Racers, Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Rayman Origins, Dungeon Hunter, etc, and more hit games coming, Mortal Kombat, Resistance, Gravity Rush, etc, and just a highly capable system, it may not outsell 3DS, but may be better favored.
