The lights are on
Update: EA has apparently changed its tune regarding the iOS version of Rock Band. Players were greeted with a message stating that the game was going to be rendered unplayable starting May 31, which created a bit of a stir online. Now the publisher says the notice was sent in error.
"Rock Band for iOS will remain live - the in-app message users received yesterday was sent in error," EA wrote in the statement, which was sent to CNET. "We apologize for the confusion this caused. We're working to clarify the issue that caused the error and will share additional information as soon as possible."
Now we just have to wait to see if the additional information that EA plans on sharing is simply another termination date.
-------------------------------
Some players of Rock Band for iOS were met with a disturbing message this morning. The game will no longer be playable at the end of May.
The purported image above first surfaced on Reddit today showing the in-game notice. Developer Harmonix said it's not aware of the cause of this issue and is currently in contact with EA about the situation.
Rock Band on iTunes is still available for purchase, however, and there is no warning about the game expiring on May 31 anywhere on the product page.
We'll update this story once we hear more from both Harmonix and EA.

At least some things in the world are constant such as EAs ability to suck. This seems like an oddly specific "error" though. So the question is are they planning to end the game and someone just jumped the gun and went live too soon or did they get hacked with a fake popup. The truth is out there but, since we're dealing with EA here, I doubt we'll ever hear it.
Yeah it was sent in error. I guarantee they had no plans to send this until the very last second. Gotta milk the sales for every penny. Scumbags.
It was sent in error but it sure as hell wasn't typed in error. Give an infinite amount of monkeys with an infinite number of keyboards and infinite amount of time and one of them will eventually create this message. But EA doesn't have an infinite amount of monkeys. Shame too. They'd be so much better off with the monkeys as the top brass.
Very strange that a message like this would be coded in the first place if EA isn't planning on shutting the game down pretty soon. If I were someone who hasn't bought the game yet, I wouldn't bother trying to now because chances are the game will be shut down sooner rather than later.
Wow EA. How does something like this happen in error?
