The lights are on
Remember THQ's April Fool's joke? it wasn't a joke at all. The publisher announced the standalone Saints Row: The Third expansion Enter The Dominatrix is really coming this fall.
Arriving on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC for $29.99, this expansion adds "the most requested gameplay features" from the Saints Row community: freaking super powers.
“Faster than a speeding cyber jetbike, more powerful than a roided-out Luchadore, able to leap flying aircraft carriers in a single bound… That’s the power you’ll find inside the Dominatrix. Use it for good. Use it for evil. Use it for whatever you want. As always in Saints Row, it’s up to you,” said Danny Bilson, EVP of core games at THQ.
Enter The Dominatrix takes place after the events of Saints Row: The Third. Here's a quick rundown of the plot:
For centuries, alien warlord Zinyak has eyed Earth and its precious natural resources and females with a watchful eye. As he prepares an armada for invasion, he has only one worry: the Third Street Saints.Once a simple street gang from Stilwater, the Saints have evolved into a global empire, replete with bombastic TV advertising and tasteful consumer products, the kind of TV advertising and consumer products that would give any alien warlord pause. Clearly, the Saints are the biggest badasses on Earth.
Now, in order to prepare his forces for domination, Zinyak captures the leader of the Saints and imprisons him in an elaborate virtual reality simulation. This simulation program looks and feels like Steelport, but it is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth. Here, you are a slave. Welcome… to the Dominatrix.
Expect to hear more about Enter The Dominatrix later this summer
Lets see, $30 for superpowers and 1/2 the original cost of the game..... i don't need superpowers to know i'm not getting it! unless it has a lot of content.
Btw comments seem broken...
WTF does this have to do with street gangs? man I miss the old saints row. now all it is a crappy and crude game that is meant to apeal to 14 year olds.
SR is what it is. I love the fact the SR is over the top. I have never laughed so much as I have with this series. It would make sense to me to throw in some super powers and some kinky stuff to seal the deal. We have a GTA and they (nor anyone else) should even attempt that. The moments I sit there and and say, "WTF, I can not believe I am doing this" is worth the gaming experience. Who would ever believe that a game could be made that contains all of the things you should NOT do in a game and be successful.
I hope this is good. If it is, this could give Volition another stake in gaming industry.
Not ashamed to admit beating someone down with a *** is hysterical and liberating!!! That is a creative conversation starter.
I actually kind of thought that sounded like it could very well be a real dlc when I read that at the beginning of last month. Saint's Row sure has gotten ridiculous, and I love it!
When I read the title (without clicking on the article) the first thing I thought: Well I guess it wasn't an April Fool's joke after all. XD
This actually doesn't sound too bad. Hopefully it will worth every penny, so most likely I'll get this.
Well since no one else will ask it I will. Do We Learn Kung FU!!.
Well, guess we all got fooled.
How about generating it possible to make use of the hearth hose around the fireplace truck, or the damn cargo helicopter picking up vehicles...minor factors like that ended up being still left out.
It's pretty awesome how that was just an April Foolsjoke and now, it real.
Sorry Volition! I think you've milked all the cash out possible.
i bought the season pass so i better get this for free! im not paying 30$
for just super powers....
My friend would be more interested in this if the price weren't so steep.
I'm psyched there's going to be more to do in this game's universe : )
Once I get around to playing the main game (as it looks at me from the shelf), I may consider this but I'm not sure.
could be fun.
Am I the only one that saw the words "standalone expansion" in the article? Which means it doesn't require the saints row the third original game to play it. Red dead redemptions undead nightmare was a standalone expansion that was 30$ and its story was a lengthy one so I'm sure enter the dominatrix will be just as long if not longer playtime. That said I'm also pretty sure our season passes won't allow us to get it when its released. Because most likely it will be a disk based expansion.
