We Could Be Getting A $99 Xbox 360

As soon as next week, Microsoft is planning to launch a $99 Xbox 360 bundle with a monthly subscription, according to a new report.

The Verge says Microsoft will offer a 4GB console with a Kinect sensor at its U.S. stores that includes a monthly fee of $15. The subscription will be two years and give you access you Xbox Live Gold and possibly more. The report also notes there will be a termination fee if the contract is broken ahead of time.

Microsoft said it has not made any announcements and does not comment on rumor or speculation.

  • wow that's crazy

  • ok first off COULD BE, which means may or may not. SOURCES, implies possible rumor nothing more. personally i already have a 4gb system and need a harddrive. 4 gb isnt worth anything for a serious gamer except to watch video's. Since the math was done on the "what if's" of pricing and its obviously not worth it there should then be something more to this story than what is being said. I will wait until I hear it from the "horses mouth" before I commit to such information. Besides this doesn't do me any good anyway since I already have one plus my old system. Plus, Im unemployed so fat chance in hell I am going to be able to pay THAT much of a bundle. hence, why i purchased a referb model for $150. so :P on this! *rant done*

  • Stupid. Their ripping you off. It's only 4GB's, you cant even download GTA4 with that.

  • Everyone wants what phone companies and Blizzard have.. we can't afford monthly subscriptions to everything!

  • *RIP OFF*..cough..cough..*RIP OFF*

  • Lease an Xbox? Hmm....

  • Subscription?  Termination fee?  Go f**k yourself, MS.

  • Wait...what? What would be the purpose of this? Your suppose to pay MS almost 200 bucks a year, for the privilege of paying for games and services under Live? This would only be something worth thinking about, if MS was fitting the bill for all those services Netflix, Hulu, ESPN etc.

  • That's pretty cool except for the monthly fee.

  • I see others have broken this down, so it clearly offers no value insofar as the hardware is concerned.
  • that's a bad deal because 15 time two year 24 is 360 dollars plus the 99 dollars you spend so in total 459 dollars total so bad deal buy one from gamestop for 135 dollars

  • Wow, actually paying monthly fees to use an Xbox? Microsoft has reached a new low

  • Pay $460 for a $200 Product? Da Faq?

  • Confusied....

  • It's $40 cheaper to buy the 4GB Kinect bundle and 2 years of Live.

  • ughh... please dont start contracts.

  • A mandatory $15 fee? For XBL? That's a terrible deal, if thats true.

  • Yeah this seems a little strange... All this focus on cloud, and talk of new consoles. I wonder if MS is preparing us for something in the near future releated to their new console. I don't like contracts either, I like to just pay for what I want and be done with it.

Unless they're going to rent the consoles too, so when it breaks they just replace it, like a cable company. Speaking of which, my cable company doesn't even have contracts! lol
  • This gives me a reason to buy a xbox 360.

  • After two years you will have spent $459 on your 360.
