The lights are on
Nier developer Cavia was creating a new team-based shooter RPG codenamed Catacombs. It seems like it may never be released, however.
According to a new report from Siliconera, Square Enix planned to officially reveal the game at last year's E3. A source told the website the game is far along in development and "was playable, but Square Enix isn’t sure if they will complete the title."
Catacombs takes place at the Museum of Natural History in New York and features four playable characters as well as randomly generated levels.
A Square Enix representative told Game Informer, "We’ve not made an official announcement surrounding this title, and do not have any info to share at this time."
Cavia was officially shut down in June 2010 and absorbed into publisher AQ Interactive.

This sounds sweet - kinda like a randomly generated level borderlands.

(Almost)Every game always strikes interest to a gamer. Shame, they might not release this.
Catacombs sounds like it could of been a great game. It's a shame it may never release.
Looks like a cool concept, hope it eventually sees the light of day.
Bring back Drakengard!
Sounds kinda like Left 4 Dead! Square Enix should totally release it!
Hey, things looked grim for True Crime: Hong Kong, but that has been resurrected. Why can't this at some point?
The museum asked Square Ennix not to release the game, because it might provide un-needed encouragement for horseplay in their facility.
Guys, don't rip on Square Enix. Every company goes through problems. Lets not forget that Square Enix has made TONS of great games before.
Drat!!! This sounds like it could have been a Game! Dont get me wrong I dont mean it could have been a bad or a good game but it sounds like this could have been an actual game as opposed to the 30 hour interactive cut scenes square has been trying to pass off as "games" for the last decade.
hmmm
Its so sad to see so many games being cancelled.
