The lights are on
Today Valve announced that the Perpetual Testing Initiative DLC for Portal 2, which allows players to easily create their own test chambers, will be available May 8 – for some users, at least.
According to Valve's press release, the DLC "allows players to easily create, share, and play Portal 2 puzzles. The Initiative comes with a simplified puzzle maker that allows that creation of mind-bending puzzles without ever leaving the game." The catch? It's only being released on PC and Mac. Players on those systems can download the DLC via Steam for free May 8.
I couldn't think of a better format for incorporating user-created content into an FPS than Portal's isolated test chambers. It's just too bad console owners are apparently being left in the lurch (though not entirely surprising).
We have asked Valve if it has any plans to release the DLC on 360 or PS3, and will update this story if we hear anything back.

Steam... :3
Do want this... >_>
good thing i got a free copy on pc when i bought the ps3 version ;)
YEEEEEEEEEESSSS!
I want my head to become community's brain stew with those inane and ridiculously imaginative custom test chambers!!!
Ah yes, I also want to come up with creations of my own!!!
Wish I had Portal 2 on PC...
thats so cool, I love games that have a level editor in them like the new Trials Evolution or Halo or Far Cry 3. I think level editors make the game more long lasting and better in the long run.. So just by this im buying Portal 2 for my mac<3 Thanks Valve
wohoo!
PC gaming <3
About time they released it !
Aw man only on PC. More games on console need a map editing tool like Halo's forge mode too. Some very great things could be made in many great games. But this is still some pretty awesome news.
As cool as this is, I think this came waaay too late. Most of my friends have already sold this game, including myself. If this came out 6 months ago I'd probably be happy, but now it's too late and I could care less.
Sucks that ps3 and xbox is left out, but hey! we ps3 owners got portal 2 on pc for free when we picked it up! so i guess atleast ps3 players arnt really left out ^^
So ffreaking awesome
I have Portal 2 for Mac. YAY!!!!!!
Can't wait to see what kinds of puzzles (and other concepts) the community comes up with. I imagine people will run with this like they did with Forge in Halo, and it should be almost as good
Very cool, but I cant help but feel it should of been included from the start Portal 2 being a pretty short game (when you payed full price for it). Now with Diablo 3 coming out I won't be going back to portal 2 for a good while (maybe they'll have good map by then).
I'm sorry if this comes off as egotistical, but all my friends who played Portal 2 on console moved on, before Peer Review even came out. I fail to see why Valve would waste resources on making the new DLC for an already abandoned game (on consoles, at least).
No modding for consoles and no level creators? Disappointing.
#Disappointed
Aww I want it for the Xbox. Cmon Valve
