The lights are on
Today Valve announced that the Perpetual Testing Initiative DLC for Portal 2, which allows players to easily create their own test chambers, will be available May 8 – for some users, at least.
According to Valve's press release, the DLC "allows players to easily create, share, and play Portal 2 puzzles. The Initiative comes with a simplified puzzle maker that allows that creation of mind-bending puzzles without ever leaving the game." The catch? It's only being released on PC and Mac. Players on those systems can download the DLC via Steam for free May 8.
I couldn't think of a better format for incorporating user-created content into an FPS than Portal's isolated test chambers. It's just too bad console owners are apparently being left in the lurch (though not entirely surprising).
We have asked Valve if it has any plans to release the DLC on 360 or PS3, and will update this story if we hear anything back.

Wow, it only took a year to get this out and I forgot about this DLC. It kinda sucks that console people can't make their own chambers, but I think that they said when the game first came out that the levels will be playable across all platforms. Don't know if this is still the plan.
This is awesome, cant wait to put my Steam friends through some hell! Mwahaha!
All my dreams have come tr--oh wait, PC or Mac? Screw my dreams, then.
CAN'T WAIT!!!
took them long enough. IMO this should have been released long ago shortly after the game was released. the main single player was 6-8 hours long and the multiplayer was another 5 hours. wouldve liked it better if it came earlier.
but this is still great news. Im definitely going to spend alot of time playing through the communities custom maps. hope they bring up a mega hard puzzle.
this game was incredible and these could be a ton of fun!
FINALLY.
It needs to come to come to consoles. I will pay top dollar.
Too bad for console owners (myself included). Hopefully we hear something from Valve regarding the matter.
