The lights are on
Price drops are always a popular move, but Jesse Divnich, vice president of insights and analysis at market research firm EEDAR, believes that the PS3 doesn't have to do that just yet.
Although the PS3 is behind the Xbox 360 in sales, Divnich told GamesIndustry International he doesn't think it's time for Sony to do anything drastic. "I don't believe the PlayStation 3 needs a price drop at the moment. Sales have been consistent and in-line to what one would expect for a platform that continues to successfully grow its install base so late in a console cycle."
We'll have to wait and see what this holiday brings, and whether the release of the Wii U will change Sony and/or Microsoft's mind about the prices of their consoles.

I definitively agree
They'd be stupid to do anything until the Wii U is released. Even after then they might want to wait a little bit. I think they'll end up coming out with a couple discounted bundles for Christmas time
I highly doubt there will be a price drop on the PS3 either. Sony is paying for quality material in the PS3... so I don't see a price drop in the future. Also, a PS3 will last, on average, considerably longer then the 360, because the buyer in paying for said quality parts!
PFFT!!! It does need a price cut! So does the Vita!!! Man, the economy is shot and alotta gamers are poor. Sheesh. Help a gamer out and make these consoles affordable for all!
They just need to up the advertisements and change the freaking UI
ha ha ha!... Oh analysts.
I agree not untill the new sytem announcment
I'm still waiting for a price drop. Hopefully it will happend before Ni no kuni and The Last Guardian are released.
magic 8 ball says xmas will have a small price drop before the debut of the next system
That is just my thinking, it is competitive and a great package all in all.
The price they have are perfect. But a good fifty bucks will work wonders i believe for this holiday season coming up.
For $350 you're getting more than your moneys worth.
I agree with what this analyst was saying, the PS3 doesn't need a price drop at the moment because it's selling consistently. However, I do think if Sony does decide to give the PS3 a price drop, it will definitely fly off store shelves because of everything the PS3 can do.
