The lights are on
In an interesting nostalgia infused twist, a Zelda fan has recreated Ocarina of Time in Link to the Past's 16-bit art style.
Zelda Fan Game Central moderator MaJoRa has been working on the project for quite awhile, and it's impressive. You can see the full map above, but you can also see each section up close by checking out the link the previous sentence. It's strange, because these areas are all so familiar, despite looking completely different from the way I originally experienced them. Now that the assets have been created, somebody just needs to create a playable game with them, and then give it to the Internet.

Wow, I can hardly recognize Ocarina. Looks great.
It is impressive, but it's not very accurate.
I remember several years ago that a fan was recreating OOT in the style of LTTP, but if I recall correctly, they received a "cease and desist" letter from Nintendo and were forced to discontinue the project. It was a sad day, because it looked really promising!
That looks really cool... link to the past was one of my all time faves
kinda cool.
dang all images are over his bandwidth now :(
quick, backup every image before nintendo notices
No... I don't like Lttp's gameplay as much. It just feels... off. Don't hurt my Ocarina.
This looks awesome, and I hope it turns out well. I still have doubts about some of the parts of the game being turned into 16-bits, though.
Impressive!
That's amazing.
This would be cool if you could actually see the images. Unfortunately he foolishly used Photobucket and now the views have been exceeded so you can't see the photos without having a paid account. Fail upload, man.
I'd give it a play if they make it, but also wonder how well some parts of ocarina of time will translate down at 16 bits. Cool idea though as a link to the past is very high on my all time favorite games list.
Best thing ever.
It's pretty nifty
Interesting, but I guess the idea was to no do it exactly the way it was in OoT.
