The lights are on
It's not technically a game, but it does use the Unreal Engine, and it is very cool.
When game developer Christopher Albeluhn found himself out of the job after working in the industry for seven years, he used his new forced free time to create an accurate model of our solar system using the Unreal Engine. It features accurate constellations, orbits, planet rotations, locations, and speeds.
Albeluhn started an IndieGoGo page to start taking donations on the project with the ultimate goal of releasing it on PC, along with other platforms like iOS devices. Albeluhn met his financial goal, and is now interested in donating the application as an educational tool to schools and museums. You can find out more about the project here.
One thing I can't help but think about, after just finishing Mass Effect 3, is how awesome it wold be to explore Albeluhn's accurate three-dimensional galaxy with the Normandy. The galaxy exploration sequences in all of the Mass Effects always felt lacking to me. All I am saying is, maybe BioWare should look into hiring Mr. Albeluhn to help with whatever is in store for the future of Mass Effect. I hear he is looking for work.

I think this guy should work for Valve. They could totally use him. Portal 3! Weeeeee!!!!
It would be awesome if he added some feature that allows you to look into the past so you can see e.g. the world map of the 12th century so you could see how the borders have changed and see how nations have died and have been born.
Very cool. I like how all of Earth's countries pop out especially. All it's missing in the little entry on the side.
4:37, Apparently the Nearest and Brightest Star is called Altair. Possible tie-ins to AC Universe? i think im onto something here....
This is the most amazing thing I've seen in a long while! Makes me wanna play freelancer again.
wow! very impressive work!! A lot of hard work went into this.
He should get a team together and use this to make a game called "Homeworld 3"!!!
That video needs a Mass effect galaxy map song.
Yeah thats impressive.
I miss Unreal Tournament for PC
When will it be released!?!
Very, very nice.
This looks amazingly cool, but it really undermines his accomplishment when he can't spell the words in his "give me money" pitch correctly.
I know, it's petty, but come on. You're asking for thousands of dollars and you can't proof-read?
I think it says a lot about the state of the American economy that someone that created something as phenomenal as this is out of work. If this guy can't find work, who can?
I'm not sure I want to know how long it took to create this...very well done though.
This looks great...I want this app. I hope someone makes one of the universe, that would be amazing!
