Replay – Alone in the Dark: One-Eyed Jack's Revenge

Alone in the Dark: One-Eyed Jack's Revenge is the PSone adaptation of the sequel to a genuine cult PC classic. But the only thing scary about this early survival horror title is its clunky controls and loading screens that can pop out of any corner.

Join Andrew Reiner, Tim Turi, Dan Ryckert, and Ben Reeves as they struggle to look past the horrifying graphics and stilted controls of this 1996 horror title. Stick around for our Roulette where we play another game with terrible controls and graphics. Yeah, that’s right, they made two bad games that generation.

  • Well it's not playing so I guess I'm not watching this weeks episode.

  • Where's the half-life super replay that we've been promised?

  • i've never even heard of miracle space race. the first segment was pretty funny though. reminded me of avgn.

  • I seem to be experiencing the same video problems as everyone else...

  • This was excellent!Made my day.

I feel bad for people who bought these games new. Bloody hell, that Alone in the Dark game, falling of the chasm randomly, WTF?

  • awesome Replay,  those games were horribly awful!

  • Great replay.  Alone in the Dark made me crack up a few times.  I tried playing the first one awhile ago and I don't think I could even get past the first room.  That cart racing game, though... that's just plain bad.

I really liked the newest Alone in the Dark.  It's definitely one of my favorite "true" survival horror games this generation (there's only a handful I'd say fit into that category, though).  It had some cool new concepts that I would like to see return, and other than a few glitches I ran into I thought it was a very good game.

  • I just watched a super replay of Alone in the Dark 2.
Do NOT super replay that game :D it is horrible, absolutely horrible. :D

The craziness is funny in the beginning, but afterwards it becomes just a dull chain of awkward fighting sequences.

I watched a guy play it with a full walk-through and a few playthroughs under his belt (it seems) and he is still struggling with the horrible controls. He just shoots through it, for anyone interested in seeing the whole story:

edit: my post had a bit of a mean tone, so I changed some stuff
  • I think it would be pretty cool if you guys did a Jersey Devil replay... me gusta :{D

  • every video game needs zombies wielding Tommy guns.

  • Some reaon I can't access the video

  • Hey, for its day the first Alone in the Dark game was AWESOME! At least when you were a 7 year old kid :D

  • there WAS an M&M's cart racing game!

  • These loading screens are ridiculous lol

  • SEMEN!

  • How come the heavyset detective climbed hedges and windowsills like Donut Drake but the guy you controlled could barely manage a run? And I always thought it was a bad decision to empower you at the beginning then take it all away for the majority of the game. Slowly building back up to where you started never seemed as fun or entertaining.
  • This game looks so terrible but I wanna play it O.o

  • Since you are doing an early polygon title this was one of the first on PC.

You should replay starfox on SNES too.

and virtua fighter virtua racing arcade ETC ETC

you know one from each platform.

Oh and the ps1 version sucks balls and it was a lot more impressive in 1992-1993 on PC. the crap resident evil games ripped off this game but they had the luxury of more modern 3d tools DEV tools like the newer versions of 3d studio max and power animator (AKA maya) and the ps1 had a semi GPU and a cpu the Pc games ran off the 486 or 386 CPU only since GPU pretty much did not exist in 1992 for home use.

SO if you say this game sucks you are a dumb ass this was a ground brakeing game and somebody has to do it first this was it hell it was pushing polygons before id software did they was still using *** sprites with doom and wolfenstien.
  • Ben, haha im glad you hosted this! What a game to choose for the Replay. Weird and well weird. Never even seen a style like this before. Very surprised it came from an Alone in the Dark series. Then the roulette was just wow, and I find it funny because there was a M&M kart racing game! haha Neat and different Replay. Thanks!

  • This was a great game. In fact, it happens to be one of my favourite games of all time.. Might not be scary now, but when I was like 12 playing this it was certainly chilling. I still remember the awesomeness of acquiring a tommy gun and mowing down a load of zombie pirates.

The PC version didn't have any of those stupid loading screens, nor did it have those terrible "textured" polygons... I think you nobs have been way too unfair on this one. Fair enough to be critical about something, but no need to act like a bunch of boorish teenagers.
