Brink Sold 2.5 Million Copies

Global sales for developer Splash Damage's online-focused shooter Brink has reportedly sold over 2 million copies to date.

The sales figure comes from a recent Gamasutra interview with CEO Paul Wedgwood who said the game was successful for the company.

"With Splash Damage, we finished Brink, and it's estimated to have sold more than 2.5 million units worldwide, which at retail would mean that it's generated around $120-140 million in revenue," said Wedgwood.

Brink released last May and garnered mixed reviews. Game Informer editor Matt Bertz scored the game a 6.75 out of 10.

  • Wow. I'm suprised it sold that many from the horrid reviews. The game was not that bad. But yet I have not finished it yet...
  • I wasted money on it...Had it for about two weeks and sold it. Shame
  • Do people have any sense? Go buy Borderlands or Xenoblade if you want a good game.
  • congratulations brink. i loved the game and its good to see it was successful. hope they make a sequel.
  • I was interested in the game pre release and I just lost it before it released, mixed with mixed reviews just got buried under better games. Good for them if the sales were decent.
  • I thought this game was terrible.
  • I remember playing this game, pretty good, I really liked the parkour stuff IMO.
  • Looks like there are at least 2.5 million very angry people out there.
  • I wonder how many of these sales were returned once people realised it was marred with bad design decisions and shallow gameplay.
  • Character customization just doesn't mesh well with class based shooters.
  • Awesome, so there's hope for a sequel? That would definitely be awesome, they could iron out some of the kinks the Brink had, I liked it but it had it' problems

  • The game is pretty fun, I just think it was OVERHYPED

  • I really enjoyed my time with Brink. I never had any of the problems other people had with the game. I'd love a sequel.

  • That is a lot more than I excpected

  • THAT GAME SUCKED ***
  • I applaud the attempt at some originality, but I rented this game, and it was easily the most boring game I have ever played.
  • I loved Brink, I still play it sometimes.
  • I had it but sold it after a week and a half realizing it doesnt offer much depth. It got stale...really fast.
  • If they make a second one they should get Rages AI and gunplay combined with the parkour and scratch the story and just make 30 maps of different ecosystems and locations.
  • $120-140 million seems like a stretch. A good portion of the sales came after this game hit the bargain bin. He's a CEO of the developer and from what I've seen developers' knowledge of the business side is vastly different than that of publishers.
