The lights are on
A scare went around last month with the rumor that Prey 2 had been cancelled. Thankfully that is not the case, but lots of work still needs to be done on the game, which Bethesda is delaying indefinitely.
This morning, Bethesda's PR department sent out this frank comment on the delay of the game and its development so far:
Development of Prey 2 has not been cancelled but the game will not be released in 2012 as planned. The delay is due to the fact that game development has not progressed satisfactorily this past year, and the game does not currently meet our quality standards. Prey 2 has shown great promise and we regret disappointing our fans. We have made a substantial investment in game development to deliver the experience fans want. We are determined only to release the AAA game that fans rightfully expect, and are unwilling to compromise our quality standards to meet a release schedule.
Sounds like a good decision.

AWWWWWWWWW S**T!!!!! Well at least the game wasnt cancelled
That is one of the best things I read in a long time Prey 2 is going to a great game. I might be a little disappointed that the release was postponed I'm happy they did it to make sure the game is good.
So the game didn't have enough bugs in it :P
Better to keep working than to shell out crap
dam this sucks...glad it isnt cancelled though, this game looked like it had a lot of promise.
Just cancel it.
get this one right....i can wait
This sucks big time for them....they're probably going to have to reallocate more money with developers to work on it then.
I'm really happy that it isn't cancelled.
Thankfully it wasn't canned!!! This will give me something to look forward to in the future :)
I'm just glad it isn't cancelled. Maybe they learned from their mistakes with releases like Hunted and Brink.
Thank you Bethesda!
Now if only they gave an announcement for when it might come out.
I'm glad its not cancelled but this almost just sounds like a diversion or a way to avoid fan backlash. If it weren't it would stand to reason there would be better communication from the developer to the fans and media about the status of such a high profile project. But if they indeed haven't cancelled it and want to still release it then what were the developers being reassigned to if they weren't working on Prey 2? Or could this potentially be more contractual disputes like the infinity ward battle?
Good for them. Thanks for showing that you really do care about the fans, Bethesda!
