by Jim Reilly on Apr 17, 2012 at 09:35 AM

Game developers continue to find success with crowd-funded titles through Kickstarter. Brian Fargo and inXile Entertainment received nearly $3 million in funding for Wasteland 2.

The pledge time for the project ended earlier this morning with a total of $2,933,252, more than triple of the original asking goal. Designer Chris Avellone of Obsidian Entertainment will help with the game, which isn't schedule for release until October 2013.

Wasteland 2 joins Double Fine Adventure as two of the most successful Kickstarter projects to date.  Leisure Suit Larry creator Al Lowe also got on board with a campaign for a remake of the first title. Additionally, Gabriel Knight creator Jane Jensen recently started a new studio to develop adventure games and is funding the projects through Kickstarter.
