The lights are on
Game developers continue to find success with crowd-funded titles through Kickstarter. Brian Fargo and inXile Entertainment received nearly $3 million in funding for Wasteland 2.
The pledge time for the project ended earlier this morning with a total of $2,933,252, more than triple of the original asking goal. Designer Chris Avellone of Obsidian Entertainment will help with the game, which isn't schedule for release until October 2013.
Wasteland 2 joins Double Fine Adventure as two of the most successful Kickstarter projects to date. Leisure Suit Larry creator Al Lowe also got on board with a campaign for a remake of the first title. Additionally, Gabriel Knight creator Jane Jensen recently started a new studio to develop adventure games and is funding the projects through Kickstarter.
Better be good.
Actually, I heard they got a little over 3 mil. After the drive ended, fans chipped in another 100k via paypal.
They made over 3 mil you didnt account for Paypal donations, which was over 101k, in total it made 3.04 mil, which I'm glad it did cause I really wanted to see the goal for the tool mod kit after release be made :)
Can't wait to play Wasteland 2, along with Double Fine Adventure! Kickstarter is such a great way to find out about and fund really awesome projects!
Well, this Kickstarter thing is catching on! Wait! I have an idea: I'm going to start a Kickstarter for a mysterious game I can make. It will release along side of Episode 3. I'll ask for 4 million and see what happens! ;)
well hopefully the game is not garbage!
Thats amazing that a company who just wanted a small amount to remake there game, got so much support from there community. It amazes me how awesome some community of fans are and I hope that whatever I do in the future will have a following as such good people as Wasteland did/does.
