The lights are on
Apple could be creating its own game console for this year if a recent rumor is correct.
Website cultofmac.com says that its sources say that Apple plans to release its own TV set in 2012 with "an iTunes-integrated touchscreen remote and Siri-like voice command technology." This TV will also come with a video-game console whose interface relies on touch and Kinect-like motion controls.
Whether this has anything to do with Apple CEO Tim Cook's recent visit to Valve, Steam on this Apple console, or if it's related to Valve's own console dreams is unknown.

A business alliance between the kings of digital distribution could be an industry-shaking move if executed intelligently. The App Store (casuals) and Steam (hardcore) already have the entire spectrum of gaming tastes corralled between them. And is it a bad thing to appeal to all bases?
A video-game console whose interfact relies on touch and Kinect-like motion controls? Count me out - the iTunes integrated touchscreen remote for the TV sounds good, but I want a proper controller for my games.
I don't believe this for a second. Sony and Microsoft are to well established to be taken down by a new guy, even IF Apple had plenty of sheeple to buy their crap.
I'd buy it if I didn't think it'd cost $12,000 and 2 pounds of human flesh, like most Apple products do.
Ouch... too many consoles are coming out. This has to be a united plan made by the companies for the next gen launch of games. So are every game developer/publisher going to start making their own consoles? Imagine for every favorite game you want to play you have to own a console made by the dev, wont that be fun. Enjoy the prime time of gaming ppl if this is any indication I am right then I predict in a few years gaming will be a totally tapped out trend. This is only natural for something that expands rapidly.
I've been waiting/expecting Apple to step into the ring...
Meh. Apple already has a game machine: iPad.
So i can have a new version of it come out after a year? No thank you.
between the wii u, playstation move, kinect, ps vita, and the 3ds isn't all that technology patented by now?
LOL Apple and games LMAO just ask any long time MAC owner how well Apple knows games...LMAO
oh boy the iconsole 2013, iconsole 2 2014 etc....
If anyone else has the potential to break into the already crowded gaming scene, it's Apple. Having said that, I doubt it will flourish, at least not at first. If they start small with small, independent games like they have with apps for the iPad/Phone, they could lead that into AAA titles eventually maybe 3-4 years from now or something.
IF they do come out with their own console it will be price around 800 to 1100 and will come out ever year and a half.
everybody beefs on apple until they actually use their products.(not check out your friends mac or iphone but seriously spend hours with an apple product). Most people who have ever own an apple product that i know of has loved all of it and we all have one common complaint...more durability please.
