BioWare Blames Sony For Blocking Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer Promotion

Update: Sony said it's looking to remedy the situation. "We are currently working together with EA and BioWare on an implementation to bring Mass Effect 3 multiplayer weekends to PS3," a representative said in a statement sent to Game Informer.

BioWare's Operation Resurgence weekend challenge is not currently available to PlayStation 3 users.

The promotion, which begins this Friday, is only available on Xbox 360 and PC. Users who downloaded the free multiplayer DLC Resurgence Pack get a 10% experience bonus when playing on the new maps: Firebase: Condor and Firebase: Hydra. BioWare says Sony has not approved the promotion

This Operation is currently available to Xbox 360 and PC users only, and will run from Friday, April 13th at 5PM PST to Monday, April 16th 5AM PST. Unfortunately, we are not yet able to offer our Multiplayer Challenge weekends on PlayStation 3.

Sony has not yet approved the promotion. We continue to work with them to find a compromise, but until then, Sony will not allow us to run the same Multiplayer Challenges on the PlayStation 3 that we run on Xbox 360 and PC.

Game Informer has contacted Sony for an update. We'll update this post if we hear back.

    Sigh... Guess I'll just check back in a couple of weeks and see if they've worked it all out...

    This sucks. There was a previous Operation or two that we missed for the same reason. I doubt it, but I hope BioWare would give us another opportunity to get these perks and that Sony won't be a problem in the future.

    I KNOW I AM SO PISSED OFF RIGH NOW. DAMN YOU SONY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    EDIT: some times i think sony makes so many stupid decisions on purpose i mean its the same thing with the whole "you can't play music while playing a game thing", because these things would actually help sell this console, but "nooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!! we know everything!"

    this is a good thing?

    EDIT: look at that, Sony said it's looking to remedy the situation. witch means it will "possibly" happen. i love possibilities, there like scientific rumers.

    Sadly I've gotten used to things like this. I bought the PS3 version of ME 3 because I don't care to pay MS money just to play a basic game online. Not to mention I don't have anyone on my 360 friend list. I'd rather game with people I know than people I don't know.

    I wish Sony would wise up and work something out. I don't know what the issue is, but whatever the reason is, we're the ones getting shafted.

    Thank you for contacting Sony, GI.  I sent a couple tweets to Playstation, not Sony and so far haven't (and I almost know for sure I won't) heard back yet.  It's really freaking annoying that PS3 players are getting screwed over with all this.

    I'm glad I don't play multiplatform games on my PS3. This would irritate me. Sony comes off as incompetent in this situation.

    Really Sony? What's the issue here? It's Bioware's game to offer the content the way they want to. Is it because it's also available to 360 and PC users? If so, that's pretty damn pathetic of you and only serves to anger people.

    No wonder Sony is losing money left and right. With business decisions like this it makes sense why the Xbox360 is so much more popular. Sony really needs to get the picture or just fade away and let the people who know what they are doing make video game systems.

    Poor business decision. I enjoyed ME3's multiplayer for a while but it got boring. I feel your pain though fellow PS3 brethren's.
