Legend Of Grimrock Dev Recoups Game Costs

Within a week of launching, the developer behind Legend of Grimrock has already recouped development costs for the game.

Legend of Grimrock was self-published by Finnish-based Almost Human Ltd. "The development costs of the game have now been covered many times over so the future of the company seems pretty secure," the studio said on its blog. "So, everyone who has bought our game and supported us, you have our gratitude!"

The team also said it's begun working on the first patch for the game, which promises to fix a number of gameplay issues and exploits.

  • ba well thats good to hear.

  • This is great! I wasn't sure, and still not sure, if I'd really be interested in playing something like this, but it's always great to see that small-time independent developers can stand on their own and make living doing what they love to do.
  • Glad to be a supporter of the project; credit given where due. Cheers to Almost Human.

  • I wonder what the dev costs were.

  • Good for them. Awesome game, I'm on the 3rd level currently, and it's definitely a finisher.

  • Wow, good to see they came out on top with this. Happy for them that they are able to do what they enjoy.

  • Good for them, I've been playing through this and I really like it. It's nice to herald back to the days of the dungeon crawler and do it with modern graphics and a friendly UI.
  • It's nice for them to get what they deserved for a good product

  • Congratulations, Almost Human.

  • Well it ain't no Dear Esther!!

*edit* not comparing the games based off of the genre, but just saying Dear Esther sold really well for a Indie game.*
  • So far I like this game, just wish I could figure out how to cast spells.
  • Glad to see that they got their footing so to speak. Here's to hoping they have an even more successful future.

  • green with envy.  happy for those guys!

  • Good to hear because Grimrock is amazing.  Very oldschool in a great way.

  • This game looks awesome but I need to save money for Witcher 2 and Darksiders 2 among other games!

  • A great game that plays like a early day first person dungeon crawler but with great visuals.  I bought mine off Gog.com to support them.
