Nintendo Registers Super Mario 4 Domain

Nintendo has registered a new Internet domain. Does this mean a new Mario project is in the works?

The company registered the domain supermario4.com on April 3. Right now, the page is not active, and links back to the region select screen of Nintendo's main page.

It's possible that this registration means nothing. Companies register domains related to their intellectual properties all the time, to prevent other individuals or companies from "squatting" on the domain. However, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata did say that the company was working on another side-scrolling Mario game for the 3DS in the company's January announcement of its third-quarter fiscal results.

  • DEAR GOD YES!!!!!
  • This could either be great, or very disappointing
  • What wondrous news!

  • They should put it in the old NES/SNES style graphics.
  • There are so many ways this could go, but I hope it's in the vein of Super Mario World. And hoping for a Wii or Wii U release. I wouldn't even mind seeing a more open-world type game like 64 and Sunshine.
  • oh mario when will you ever retire.
a plumber gots to get old some time, and that goes the same for you too link
edit :) (shows that it is a joke) and yes i am fully entitled to my opinion even if this is supposed to be a joke

edit: i have not bought a Nintendo system or game since wii came out. i feel as if Nintendo has back-stabbed all of its hard core fans and went over to the mainstream group I.e. the elderly trying to keep it young, annoying teens, and adults who have no idea WTF game is. IMO. Nintendo know this, like sony and xbox your hardcore fans will all ways be by your side but when you decide to ditch them failure is soon to follow.
    now i am being serious.
  • I hope they give him guns.
  • Well, I can assume no other than THIS IS HAPPENING AND I SHOULD GET EXCITED!

  • Wii U please...
  • This is indeed good news :)

  • This will be amazingggggg!!!
  • More Mario on my 3DS definitely isn't a bad thing.

  • I always preferred Super Mario World to Super Mario Bros 3 but they are pretty similar. I hope rather than bringing back suits they make all new ones. I also hope it is a lot harder than the recent New Super Mario bros.

  • yeah, more 3DS...great

  • SMB4? Yes please. Better be as good, or better than, SMB3
  • SMB4? Yes please. Better be as good, or better than, SMB3
  • Huh, and I thought that Super Mario World was basically Super Mario Bros. 4. Not because it was the next one released, but the in-game manual directly said that the sunken ship was the airship from Super Mario Bros. 3. That, and the level looked a lot like it.

  • This could be the final product of the Super Mario Bros Mii demo shown on the Wii U at last years E3.

This would move a few Wii-U's, and it would add to the ever increasing number of launch titles I would be getting with the system on day 1.

    Pikmin 3
    Darksiders 2
    Assassins Creed 3
Retro Studios Title (Metroid Prime 4 or Star Fox)

and now Super Mario Bros. 4?

Assuming all these titles are ready for launch, this will easily be the most games I will have purchased at a system launch. A GTA V announcement would make it perfect. Time to start socking away those pennies!
  • YESSS, YESSSSSSS!!!

  • Wasn't Super Mario World called SMB4 in Japan? If this is actually a name of the game then I smell some FF like numbering problems happening.
