The lights are on
Dragon shouts are about to get more shouty, thanks to a free update to the Xbox 360 version of the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The download, set to release this month, will add Kinect support with more than 200 voice commands.
The video below breaks down just some of the new functionality, which goes far beyond merely aping your character's special dragon shouts. Players can use their voice to access quick saves, direct their allies in combat, sort through their inventories, and much more. Bethesda hinted that Kinect support was a possibility a few months back.
All right, Bethesda. You can scratch this one off our wish list. Now get to work addressing the rest of our DLC whims already!

Neat.
Bethesda seems to be taking some inspiration from Mass Effect 3's integration of the device, with quick saves, ally commands and equipment swapping. I don't see myself ever buying a Kinect, plus I play Skyrim on PS3, but this functionality is something they demonstrated in their game jam, so one could only wonder how many of those ideas are being tested for actual integration into the game.
Seems like it will work.
Yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss, I want horse armor...
Quick save will be niiiiiiiiice.
so who has the list out to learn and memorize the dragon shouts? I like the quicksave.
Sounds interesting. I find this idea rather cool.
This is in just so Bethesda can watch people through the camera and make sure they don't have any unlicensed Fus Ro Dah gear. If you do, a wave of Zenimax stormtroopers will rain down on your home.
THAT IS INSAAAAAAANE!!! I'm so excited for this.
Makes me kind of want a kinect... Sadly not enough though.
If I actually vocalized dragon shouts to use them in-game, my wife would instantly threaten divorce.
Could it be??? an actual reason to buy Kinect?
Looks awesome!
I hope theres an option for the shout to happen right after you shout it, in stead of the redundancy of your character having to shout it too.
THIS IS SO COOOOOOOL!!!!!!
Ok that's just wrong. Kinect?! Really?!
I love Bethesda, but I wouldn't be surprised if this sits up. I can already see coughs setting off attacks and sound from TVs doing the same. Regardless, I look forward to shouting Fus Ro Dah a lot :)
Oh Lydia, now I can kill you with my cough as well as 'accidentally' hitting you with my spells :)
Meh, there's a mod out there that lets you shout already, and all you need is a $10 mic.
