Something Funky Is Going On With Darksiders II

THQ previously announced it was shipping Darksiders II in June. Now, that might not be the case anymore.

In a recent interview with Ripten, VP of Core Games Danny Bilson was asked about the possibility of the game being delayed past its June 26 date due to the recent restructuring and subsequent layoffs at THQ. He responded saying, "We haven’t announced anything… but the team is working really, really hard. We’re not going to ship it before it’s done."

A THQ PR representative during the interview was also unable to comment on the release date.

Game Informer followed up with the publisher and was told, "No new announcements have been made at this time."

So, there you go. Darksiders II was officially announced for June 26. But now the publisher refuses to comment on if it's still happening. We'll hopefully know more as we get closer to E3 in June.

  • I still want this game. Shame to hear baout THQ's troubles but I really hope it doesn't effect the products they DO release

  • June 26 = My birthday

I really hope Darksiders II isn't delayed!

  • I want them to at least finish it!

  • Hahaha okay. I love Jim's last three statements!

  • I can't wait for this game! I hope it doesn't end up getting delayed too long.

  • Judging by THQ's other decisions in the past I'm assuming that they're going to release it in 2013 and the game will officially be renamed Happysiders III. Instead of all that death stuff the game will be a messy jumble of Happy Feet licensed nonsense, and whatever other horrible things they can do to dismantle successful game making.

  • The sooner I can play this the better, but if it makes a better product than by all means take your time.

  • This is my most anticipated game, next to AC3 and Diablo 3.  I wants it!

  • Good decision THQ. Better to release a really polished brilliant game than something that's marred by nasty bugs/glitches when things are getting really tough.
