The lights are on
Surprise! People are still making crazy things in Minecraft. This time it's a recreation of Konami's classic vampire slaying side-scroller, Castlevania.
The world took its creator, Nick "Nario" Hagman, over 100 hours to complete, over the course of 37 days. Hagman says no mods were used, and that he placed every block in the level by hand. Hagman then did a playthrough of the world with his friend Divinebeing recording it from an authentic side-scrolling perspective. As you can see in the extended video below, the results are impressive.
Head to Hagman's Youtube page to download the world for yourself, along with a custom Simon Belmont skin. If you're looking for more Castlevania-related reading material, check out Tim's ranking of his favorite Castlevania games.

That's kinda silly.
Silly awesomeness! I like the three camera idea they used.
I've been thinking of new things to build and Castlevania came to mind a while back. Glad to see someone did an amazing job at it!
That's pretty awesome.
I've never played a Castlevania game other than Lords of Shadow, so seeing it has no form of nostalgia to me. It's still cool that people go through so much effort to make these. What would really be cool is if you could play in the 2D perspective instead of first-person
HA, pretty cool! Still need to find time for this game... between Skyrim, Final Fantasy... psh, I donno. I still would like to see what this game is truly like.
looks boring where are the bad guys??
It looks WAY better than the original. Props
Looks like the CAWWADOOTY kids are once again confounded why someone would spend time playing a game with no rapid fire cheap combat sequences.
Looks awesome!!
Ah Castlevania soundtracks. Second only to Mega Man in awesomeness.
I've come to despise things made in Minecraft. It's really not that cool. I'd rather play ACTUAL Castlevania.
Makes me want to play Minecraft.
looks great, love the retro music
That was awesome, but it would've been perfect if it had boss fights
creative, but that doesn't look all that much fun
