Dark Souls Headed To PC

Namco Bandai today confirmed a PC port of the game. The publisher said the online petition, which has almost 100,000 signatures, played a major part in the decision to port the game. The team originally had no plans to do a PC version.

In the first three months, the game sold 1.3 million units and shipped 1.5 million.

The Prepare to Die edition includes:

New Bosses - Including Artorias of Abyss, Chimera of Tomb, and more

PVP Online Matchmaking System - Quick matching for co-op or PVP

New Areas – Including Oolacile Tomb, Old Ruins and more

New Enemies – Including Abyss Guard, Chained Prisoner and more

New NPCs – Including Hawkeye Gough and more

New Weapons and Armor – Equip some from the new bosses, enemies, and NPCs

And More!

The game is available worldwide on August 24, 2012. Posted below is the new trailer.

  • awesome I think I may buy this!

  • PC players will soon experience ceaseless discharge.
  • YES! I just got a new modem for my 56k Dell computer. Been waiting for something sweet to play on it, and now I do!

  • Normally I would be excited, but I already have it on console. If I had known a PC port would come I would have waited...

  • Dark Souls has always had a dedicated community, and it's good to see that it'll be getting bigger. With this game, people will need all the help they can get.
  • Dark Souls was a good, if punishing, game. Trying to play online will get almost anyone killed quite easily, especially when people like me are running around with the Fog Ring equipped :)

On another note, I hate it when late releases get extras. What about those of us who bought the game for PS3/360? I'd bet not, but I hope we get something new when the PC version ships. Same thing happened with Bully when I bought it on PS2, a few months later 360 got it with a bunch of bonuses. Not very fair to the people who bought it in the first place, without us there would be no subsequent release so why do we get alienated so much?

  • I really hope they make DLC of what was just shown for console players. Maybe I'm just being selfish but it feels a little unfair that PC players get all the new content.

  • *single tear falls* My signing of that petition in January made a difference.
  • 100% first day purchase. Bought two copies of it on ps3 still have a collectors sealed. Not normally into Japanese RPGs but this one has had me hooked for over 300 hours.

  • I completely forgot about that petition. One of those signatures are mine.

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, please be on ps3!!!!!!!

  • I'll get to this eventually...on PS3.

  • yes! Yes! YESS!!

  • OMG! TAKE MY MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Nice. I do hope the new content comes to consoles, so I can play it on my PS3, but I'm definitely buying it for PC as well because it's thats awesome of a game to get twice.

  • I was so excited when i heard the news... but the excitement is gone now that i know about the GFWL.

    time for another one... http://www.change.org/petitions/namco-bandai-and-from-software-release-dark-souls-pc-edition-without-games-for-windows-live#
  • Yeah, they clearly left the Griphon out. He's in the Artbook.
  • I would absolutely love to see this come out as DLC even though they said they didn't plan on releasing any. The new bosses in the screenshots look awesome and having even more NPC's to deepen the lore of Dark Souls would be fantastic. PC gamers buy this game you will not be disappointed!
