Report: Epic Working On PC-Only Title

Although some fans may be disappointed that Epic Games has cancelled Gears of War: Exile, there's news that the company is currently working on a PC-only project.

Joystiq reports that company president Mike Capps and lead designer Cliff Bleszinski told a panel at PAX East that Epic is working on a PC-only title that Joystiq says is previously unannounced.

We presume then that Fortnite is not the game in question (although its platforms haven't been officially announced), as that was debuted last year on the VGAs.

Could this be a return to the roots for the Unreal franchise or something else entirely?

It's got to be another Unreal. They always make those things to show off their tech. Plus, it's getting to be about that time when Epic releases a game to show off their engine.

I'm not sure I can care about Epic Games anymore. Not after how they messed up GoW3. The hardcore audience that made the franchise popular in the beginning was greeted by a shotgun and rifle that essentially aim themselves. GoW3 is nothing but a big joke now. The amount of people playing has gone from 60k to 6000 in TDM. KoTH went from 20k to 1200. Their idea of supporting MLG was to add a spectating mode. GoW3 is a joke, and to me Epic is just dead. RIP Epic.

When games are PC exclusive, good things happen. Crysis came out in 2007 and is still the best looking game available, besides the Witcher 2 on PC. Just think, if there weren't consoles and all games were designed for PC we would have outstripped Crysis years ago.

I don't really know why, but Epic just doesn't do much for me. I really have tried to enjoy their games, and I did like Gears, liked Gears 2 less and didn't even finish Gears 3, which is pretty unlike me.

As others have noted, I would think this is a promotional game for the new engine version. I will say the tiny bit of Fortnite I have seen has me interested.

I would have loved to play the gears series, even bought some of them but the rodi makes me so nauseated! I don't know what it is about it, but man I can't handle that camera. I have no issues with motion in any other games.

I hope they've seen the new consoles and realised they can't run the Samaritan on it so they're making it a pc exclusive.
