Rumor: Grand Theft Auto V May Release This October

Alex O'Dwyer, a character animator at Rockstar Games, has an October 2012 release date listed for Grand Theft Auto V on his resume.

You can find O'Dwyer's LinkedIn account here, and his CV here, which contains the possible release date. This is by no means a confirmation of Grand Theft Auto V releasing in October, but it is a reasonable time frame for what will likely be one the biggest releases of the year, whatever year that may be.

  • Seems unlikly... I'm prepared to wait till spring/early summer like most of their recent releases, but would be another sweet time sink this fall if true!

  • I can hope XD

  • Sounds awesome, but it's highly unlikely due to the delay of Max Payne 3.

  • That'd be cool if it was gunna be released this october.

  • Not holding my breath. It'd be cool, but we shall see.

  • I need a exact sate so i can see if there is a special edition

  • I would like it, but I'm not expecting it to be this soon. I'm expecting a May 2013 release date.

  • Well, GTA isn't 'shipped'. It also doesn't fit with the rest of his resume. Doesn't really seem legit.
  • I wish it were to be released that soon.... and my hopes are up that Rockstar is keeping their lips shut on GTA V until Max Payne is out, maybe similar to the way Dice hinted at a new Medal of Honor when Battlefield 3 came out (leaving a teaser in the game case with a URL on it)? Just have to wait and see.

  • As long as they dont rush it im fine

  • i'll buy it in November so i can veg on it all winter long.

  • Cool. But I'm itching to know, what is the title covered up by the red line?
  • i read something about a month or two ago that GTA5 wont be a 2012 release. idk for sure but thats what i remember.

  • They better not. I already have so many freaking games in my fall lineup that I can't squeeze in any more. These people need to back off already. Can't they spread these things out a little more reasonably throughout the year instead of all the big titles cramming themselves down our throats within a week of each other from September to December. These things cost around $70 when all is said and done which more or less always ends up adding up to somewhere between $400 - $500 by the time the year ends. I always have to sit there twiddling my thumbs from June to September with absolutely no games to play, and then the fall hits and 10 great games come out on top of each other. Now that I got that out of my system. Yes please. Better to have a ton of great games than none at all.

  • Nah I don't think so, Rockstar's game releases are always on May.
  • Wow... A game called Big Mutha Truckers 2 :o

  • I seriously doubt it.

  • Eh.. I highly doubt it will be released in October. I say that Rockstar better make sure that this game is crazy legit in ALL ways before they release it.
  • Yeah, I'm pretty convinced it's a 2013 typo. I really wish it was coming this year :/ Too good to be true.
