The lights are on
During their PAX East panel today, members of Gearbox announced that Borderlands 2 will be adding a Mechromancer class and character customization to the massive shooter. Rather than a stock assortment of gear and costumes, players will have to earn their new wardrobes.
New gear, costume pieces, and even custom heads can be acquired by completing missions and challenges, as well as ranking up. In addition, players of the original Borderlands will immediately be rewarded with an exclusive head and skin.
The Mechromancer is yet to be developed, and will be made available as post-launch DLC. This female character seems to be a mix of human and machine, and can control a large robot known as D374-TP (Deathtrap). The character will be made available for free to those that pre-order the game. There is no ETA or pricing available for the Mechromancer yet, but Randy Pitchford said he hopes to price it at a level "comparable to most DLC." Also announced was a special edition of the game that will retail for $149.99, and comes packaged in a loot box from the game.

I'm gonna need more than a "loot box" and "bobblehead" to shell out $150. $60 is more than enough for a shiny piece of plastic.
Good idea!
That loot box is actually super bad... do want o.o
Should I really pre-order the Collector's Edition for 149.99 just for a loot chest, and a bobblehead...? I think yes.
Nice, Im exited :D
I'd use that loot box as a custom PC case if it was big enough.
Can't wait best co-op game of 2012!
Awesome, more drug addiction - like qualities they are adding to this already salivating title.
You would have to be crazy to not pre-order this game. It's almost worth it to buy that $150 collectors edition just for that sweet loot box.
this game is like a cocaine.... you have one hit, leave it alone and come back later and you must buy more (play it more and more everyday)... true story
Never playing the first borderlands makes me want to go buy that and then play this. I cant wait for this character and zer0. Man I love the cartooney feel with exploration, crazy bosses, guns, and much more<3
A robust shooter with extra work going into enemy AI, a beautiful art style, a sense of humour, a spacious open world brimming with life, dynamic quest progression, an addictive RPG looting & growth system and now extensive character customization! Borderlands 2 is continually shaping up to be one of the highlights of the year.
Glad to hear they'll be adding at least one more character post-launch. Hopefully the DLC for this game will be as amazing as the DLC was for the original. The Secret Armory of General Knoxx was seriously some of the best DLC I've ever bought.
