Mass Effect 3 Character Importation Bug Fix Coming This Week

Alongside the free multiplayer additions coming next week, Bioware is also offering a series of bug fixes, which includes a fix for the character importation errors. Most of the other incidents seem like very specific isolated incidents that weren't widespread. The patch will be available on PC on the April 9, and Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on April 10. Here's the full list of fixes:

  • Fixed issues when in some cases Shepard’s customized facial features from ME1/ME2 may not be properly imported to ME3
  • Fixed an issue when quickly and repeatedly selecting to Resume a Save could result in Player Level reset and a potential locking of powers.
  • Fixed an issue when selecting Multiplayer in the Main Menu while under a poor network connection could result in an unresponsive state.
  • Fixed a potential crash while accessing an in-game terminal from Eden Prime level.
  • Fixed an issue when attempting to login while Server is down. It would display a Server Down message and accepting the Server Shutdown message would shut down the game.
  • Fixed a potential memory crash while loading a Quick Save of a custom FemShep.
  • Fixed an issue when restarting missions and acquiring an above max amount of weapon mods results in displayed debug text on-screen.
  • Fixed an issue when an unresponsive game state could occur during transition after the Conduit level.
  • Fixed an issue when DLC game saves can be accessed from an account without DLC if another account on the same computer has access to the related DLC. (PC Only)
  • Fixed an issue when saves from different accounts on the same computer may become locked if one account has access to DLC which the other account does not. (PC Only)
  • Fixed an issue when potentially the game could enter unresponsive state when transitioning from the Holding Docks area to the Normandy Docks area of the Citadel. (PS3 Only)

Now if they could only fix the bug where the game constantly reminds you that your powers cannot be used during cooldown.

  • Call me crazy, but i thought this was an even bigger issue than the ending. I REFUSE to play this game without my Shep. just isn't the same. luckily, I found a workaround and was able to enjoy the game (and i'm still enjoying it btw).

TBH, this should never have happened. Being able to import your Shep is such a HUGE part of the trilogy, that this should have been a priority. oh well, better late than never.

  • finally

  • finally

  • These shouldn't have been problems. These should have been tested properly to ensure a well-functioning package.  This confidence in patches is lessening the effort put into games. It inspires laziness. Knowing that you have this cushion and should the problem be brought to light you can go an fix it is a disgusting ideology.

By this logic one can sell a car without proper quality assurance and if a problem is there it can be brought in to be "patched up" free of charge. It's only because this is a game that it doesn't matter as much but like constantly point out; this is an industry.

  • yea, thanks for the character import fix the week I'm finishing the game.

I managed to make my shepard very close to how she looked like though, so not a huge biggie. (my story reasoning was that she went through some additional plastic surgery to the scars from mass effect 2)

  • I have has a lot of freezing issues with this game on PS3, and its the only game in my library doing it, so heres hoping it gets cleared up in this patch.

  • its not much of an issue but in the docking bay of the Normandy theres a box that you can walk through.

  • Finally i had to change my femshep apperance from ME2 she doesnt looks what she used to whatsoever.

  • I can't do the Hanar Diplomat quest, is that one fixed?

  • Cool! I totally agree with that last sentence!
