The lights are on
Some fans were mad at Mass Effect 3's ending, and BioWare has capitulated and offered a free DLC download that offers a different ending to the game.
The change will occur through additional cinematic sequences and epilogue scenes. A general date of "summer" has been given for the DLC, but there are no timing specifics beyond that.
“We have re-prioritized our post-launch development efforts to provide the fans who want more closure with even more context and clarity to the ending of the game, in a way that will feel more personalized for each player,” said Casey Hudson, the series' executive producer.
The DLC's free status expires on April 12, 2014, and it requires an internet connection (naturally) and EA Origin registration.

I still think that they should make up some game discs for this DLC and give them out at retailers for free for those people who don't have internet access. Or Gamestop (YOU HEAR ME, GAMEINFORMER?) should set up kiosks where people could go to load up DLC. Sucks that my unconnected friends miss out on so much.
I was happy with the ending, but when I watched the others just for fun, I kinda thought of BioWare as lazy...
But there's also more to the ending than just cinematics though, and for me it was important that EDI and the Geth(*SPOILER* I managed to kill the quarians *SPOILEREND*) kept on living in one form or another.
Yes!
Thank You Bioware!
Spoilers:
Honestly, all I wanted to know about the Endings is how the crew ended up on the Normandy and why had it fled the battle.
Answer me those two questions, I'll accept everything else. o3o
I'd even accept the "Synthetics destroying organics to stop them from creating synthetics that will destroy organics" explanation for why the reapers were doing what they were doing. >.>
DLC? Free?! EA?!! ZuH?!!!
i liked the ending, but i thought that tied up what happened to Shepard in ALL endings not just the "perfect ending"
I'm glad that they are going to expand the ending, maybe not change it completely but at least make sure that some of the questions that people have are answered. In all honesty I did not like the ending, it felt to me as if all the choices I had made throughout the series really hadn't done much to change it. I was waiting to see the effect that siding with the krogan's instead of the salarians would effect the ending, if maybe the salarians would come in and I would have to fight them along with the reapers. I wanted to know what brokering peace between the geth and the quarians led too. I don't think it's unrealistic that people wanted to know, because these were hard choices to make and in the case of the quarians and geth, it was a pretty hard accomplishment to make, it required certain things to occur from previous games. I would love to see some extra missions that tied in with the end, which they may release later, and in addition some new stuff with the mp, which is pretty great imo. Some mp changes, more maps, maybe enemies from previous games, expansion of powers/leveling caps and for the love of god set up a real store vs buy a random box and keep getting m*****f*****g pistols.
Many gamers think Mass Effect 3 had a whacked ending but does it compare to the ending of The Conduit 2 in its sheer level of "lol wut."ness? Here's a link to the 2nd half of the Dorkly article which contains a video of it. The article is about the 6 worst endings in gaming history and according to the author, you really don't need to play the game to appreciate the weirdness of it. Apparently it's so off the wall that watching it doesn't really spoil anything about the plot of the rest of the game.
