The lights are on
The website Consumerist recently held a tournament-style campaign where fans could vote for what they think is the worst company in America. Publisher Electronic Arts won.
EA beat out Bank of America for the honor in the final round of voting. "After more than 250,000 votes, Consumerist readers ultimately decided that the type of greed exhibited by EA, which is supposed to be making the world a more fun place, is worse than Bank of America's avarice, which some would argue is the entire point of operating a bank," the website said.
Consumerist began its "Worst Company in America" reader poll in 2007. Past winners include: RIAA, Countrywide Financial, AIG, Comcast, and BP.
“We’re sure that bank presidents, oil, tobacco and weapons companies are all relieved they weren’t on the list this year," EA said in a statement sent to Game Informer. "We’re going to continue making award-winning games and services played by more than 300 million people worldwide.”
Did EA get the short end of the stick here? Is there a worse video game publisher out there? Let us know in the comments below.
They deserve it, congratulations. I'd shake their hands, except that I wouldn't. That attempt at a witty reply is exactly what you'd expect from EA. Same place next year, EA?
They're not my favorite company but they're certainly not the worst!
activision should have been awarded.
Wow what a joke. You chose EA over Bank of America?? I would have even chosen Activision over EA. Or Capcom
What no Activision? I actually like EA look at the games the publish: Mass Effect series, Dead Space series, Battlefield series, Bulletstorm, Dragon Age series, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, Medal of Honor series, Need for Speed series, OVERBLOOD, The Sims series, Sim City series, SSX series, not to mention all the sports games that millions buy every year. Oh well.
That company that Curt Schilling started is the worst, in my opinion... but that's because Curt Schilling is the CEO. >_>
No EA, you will not continue to make award winning games, the developers that you publish for will. Those games would likely be even better without your interference.
The ending in the least of EA's travesties. Introducing online passes and day one DLC show just how greedy this company is. They are practically waging war on low budget gamers and the used game industry in the name of a buck. This is all going on while the quality of their games is going down. EA is the face of corporate greed to me.
honestly i think EA deserves it they are extremely greedy and corrupt.
The only thing better than the fact that EA won the award, is how damn classy their response was. They may as well have said "Haters gonna hate."
EA is right, Tobacco companies that cause more death than anything else, Banks that took the whole economy down, are all worse than EA.
Oh you got screwed on a DLC?
You dont have lung cancer and your house isnt foreclosing.
Get over it.
I think Blizzard and Bioware are runner-ups for next year...
Well, I voted for BoA. But there's nothing about this situation that I don't find funny.
Ha, that's kinda funny. And of course we all know who voted for EA... Activision fans. ;)
