The lights are on
Sony today confirmed it has closed Seattle-based game studio Zipper Interactive, the creators of the SOCOM series.
Responding to rumors last week, Sony representatives sent Game Informer the following statement:
Sony Computer Entertainment can confirm the closure of Zipper Interactive, a Seattle-based internal game development studio that has been part of the global development operation of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios (SCE WWS).
The closure is a result of a normal cycle of resource re-alignment within SCE WWS. Zipper has completed all work associated with its most recent project, Unit 13 for PlayStation Vita. Zipper titles MAG, SOCOM 4 and Unit 13 will continue to be supported, including the new Daily Challenges in Unit 13.
Zipper had approximately 80 employees.
That's sad...
Well, this might not have happend if Zipper didnt take a dump on their fans after SOCOM:CA. Let this be a warning to all devs out there who think that you can get away with making your once great product, cheap. You crap all over your fans, you get shut down. end of story.
This is heart breaking. Ever since the release of Socom Confrontation Ive longed for the release of a "proper" Socom title. One that mimics the titles released for the Playstation 2. Now this may never happed *Sad Face*
PRAISE GOD!!! THIS WAS AN ANSWERED PRAYER! THANK YOU LORD JESUS!!! Maybe next time they make a game, they continue to make it great, not the complete other way around! Maybe one of their no longer employed people will go solo and make a game identical to the original socom and call it something different. Even steal all their ideas of maps, bring back all the old original maps from socom one and two, name them all different names with an obvious subliminal message that makes clear to all the socom vets what map it is based off of, just for
s h i ts and giggles! HAHA Screw you Zipper ceo H O's
zipper made more peoples live miserable than they made good. Provable fact!
