Xbox Live is now used more for watching television shows and movies online than playing games.
"What we're seeing is that people are turning on the Xbox to play games and then keeping it on afterwards to get other types of entertainment," Yusuf Mehdi, head of Xbox marketing, told the Los Angeles Times.
Just over half the amount of time spent online through Xbox 360 is spent on entertainment. Households spend an average of 84 hours a month on Xbox Live total, a 30 percent increase from last year.
Microsoft today launched Comcast XFINITY TV, HBO GO and MLB.TV through its Xbox Live service.

I think I know why this is: if you're like me you go to sleep watching a dvd or something and leave it on all night, equating to about 10 hours of time online spent on entertainment. Just my thinking!
Another bad sign for core gamers. MS focus is now on those services and Kinect, not core gaming. I doubt we'll see another new IP this generation from MS, just more Halo and Forza.
I do love me some Netflix, especially when we finally got the search feature
'Tis a sad day for gaming.
Now MS is gonna push for entertainment over gaming even more now
If Netflix didn't count, this would be completely wrong. Who would pay money to watch a movie where I could go to Redbox, rent it or order it on Netflix for $10 less.
I'd say at least half the time I'm on my game systems I am watching Netflix or Hulu. I'm currently watching Mad Men trying to get caught up to watch the new season premier. Regardless I'm paying Microsoft for it. The more they add the smarter Microsoft is becoming.
xbox live is pretty good, no wonder way its doing sooooo good.
