The lights are on
Sweden-based Mojang continues to see success with Minecraft. Of the 25 million people that downloaded the game, 5 million have purchased it.
Revenues for Minecraft since its official release in October total $80 million. Carl Manneh, Mojang’s chief executive, told the Financial Times the team has even been approached to do television shows based off the game.
“We’ve been approached by a number of high-profile Hollywood producers and asked to do TV shows,” Mr Manneh told the website. “We may do that. It’s hard when you don’t have any experience and someone comes to throw these ideas around. We have so much to focus on with just the game development and growing the business. But if the right idea comes along and the right people that we’d want to work with, we’d say why not?”
Additionally, the report says former Facebook president and Napster co-founder Sean Parker was interesting in investing in the studio last year, but was later turned down.

Definately deserve this. Keep putting those creative minds to use!
That's nothing! I rake my whole front yard. About an acre worth. Check mate, Minecraft.
I am definitely not surprised at this number. And they deserve every penny of it. Great job!
I do wish more people would purchase the game though.
Hopefully this helps launch their other games, I'd love for Notch to team up with Valve to do his RTS Team Fortress idea.
How do you make TV shows off of Minecraft?
congrats Notch and everyone else at Mojang! You guys deserve it
