The lights are on
Junction Point Studios boss Warren Spector still desires to port the original Epic Mickey to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. During an interview at the Game Developers Conference earlier this month, we asked Spector if he considered porting the original game to other platforms at any point during its development.
“I will tell you I desperately want to do it, and other than that I have no comment at this time," he told Game Informer. “I just think it would be cool for people to see where the story started, so we’ll see."
The sequel, Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, is now coming to Wii, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
"We sold many millions of copies of [Epic Mickey] on just the Wii, and being on the Wii was great. It was a perfect way to reintroduce Mickey as a hero in video games," he added.
In 2010, Spector addressed the same question about HD ports of Epic Mickey to MTV saying it's a decision left up to Disney and that there's "nothing that would stop us from doing it."
I never got around to playing this game. I have always wanted to. I'd love to have a go at it, problematic camera and all. Hey, why don't you release it on the Vita as well?
I really hope this isn't the cover story for next month.
I think it would be cool to have a PS3 port of the original.
I would buy it I loved the game. If you can overlook the camera it's one of the best games on the wii. I would love to see it for the move.
Ehh not unless it comes with a host of improvements and no need for me to go buy a Move or Kinect I'm not interested. It seems like Spector had a great idea for a Mickey Mouse game, but Disney didn't like how "dark" it was going to be so they pulled out Epic Mickey's teeth leaving the lukewarm Ehhh Mickey for Wii.
I was kind of sad when I heard the first Epic Mickey game was a Wii only release....
I already own the Wii version and I would totally by an HD port of Epic Mickey for the PS3, especially if Move was optional, like it's said to be in Epic Mickey: The Power of Two.
Come on disney make this happen do it for the children.
Sweet! This is really really good news. Really wanted to play the original after hearing good things about it, and was unable to because of the Wii exclusivity, but now hearing this I have hope for a brighter tommorrow!
Maybe even a world without exclusives, way back when consoles were getting started! ah to dream....
I want this game for the Vita
i would probably buy it if I get to catch up on the story. Il rent it first and then maybe buy it.
Any opportunity for more people to try this would be great. I trust mr spector and theres always room for a platformer in my life!
Hahahaha okay cool.
it be neat but id still rather play the orginal idea they had.
me too me too!!
So...the first game was exclusive to the Wii, yet they justify making the sequel multi-console because why? That's just retarded. If they see fit to make the sequel multi-console why didn't they just make the first game multi-console also?
