Silent Hill: Book of Memories Delayed

The PlayStation Vita Silent Hill game has been pushed back yet again, Konami confirmed.

Silent Hill: Book of Memories was originally due out this Tuesday, but the publisher confirmed the delay to Ripten saying, "Stay tuned for a more formal announcement."

Retailer Amazon lists the game for a March 31 release date while Best Buy lists an April 15 date. These are likely just placeholder dates.

  • They are killing the franchise.
  • I just recently played Silent Hill: Downpour. All I can say is I'm dissappointed. While the atmosphere the town was great it sorely lacks monsters and variety of monsters not at least. They don't look as freaky and "hellish" like the first three silent hill games. Alot of bugs, clunky combat system and the saving... I don't even wanna talk about it. But still, Homecoming remains the worst in the series. And book of memories looks nothing like silent hill.
  • I didn't even know about this game until now...
  • whats with all the silent hill haters i'm seeing here? yes the series has gone downhill over the years but i guess people won't be happy until they axe the series completely
  • I thought Downpour was the best Silent Hill since 4: The Room. This however will be the Shadow the Hedgehog of the series, the truest moment when the series jumped the shark.

  • I think they should just cancel it.

Honestly,if these western studios aren't doing the best job with these survival horror titles why don't the companies just take them back to a Japanese developers that made the classics we loved?
  • This is new to me...

  • This sucks.
  • Is this because of the lackluster ports of SH 2/3 and the lackluster launch of Downpour?
  • Well, Konami has officially made me disappointed. With all this Silent Hill content in March, I've only been slightly intrigued. Crazy, as my two favorite titles from the series were remade....

*sigh* Kingdoms of Amalur keeps me fueled just nicely. As will Dragon's Dogma, which is what I consider to be the final chance for Capcom in my book.

  • I feel kinda bad for people working on Silent Hill nowadays, they really have a lot to live up to. I know it's hard to make games as good as the old ones, and that as an artist you want to make it your "own". But seriously they need to take a good look at WHY the older games are the best and expand upon it in their new games... Come on, put the horror back in Silent Hill!
  • Unlike what many claim, the SH series isn't beyond salvage. But there needs to be concessions on both sides. Developers/Publishers need to realize they cant try and warp it into some pseudo action game for the sake of sales. And the fans need to realize, that even if they rehashed the exact same formula, it wouldn't be as good as your rose colored memories. So some changes and modernization is necessary.

  • *sigh*

I guess we will just have to wait for a new horror IP in the future. I mean I know Amnesia is great but I kind of like this "arcade" style of the old Silent Hill, Resident Evil and Fatal Frame classics. I want another story that is both engrossing and scary, and I don't mean something like Alan Wake. I didn't like that game too much. Though an interesting story, but not all that scary. You need GRIT in these scary games, like the classics. Hell, even Dead Space 1 was scary. We can't just wait on the Japanese to make another thriller. Come on game devs!

  • I didn't even know there was a Silent Hill game being released for PS Vita O_O.

  • The fact that Konami still wants to make another handheld Silent Hill game is strange but with all the effort their putting in it should be good.

  • This is a very bad sign.

  • Mod
Was anyone even looking forward to this? I'd like to keep pretending it's not a real thing but then I get reminded like this. Worst use of the series yet.
  • Lets hope they are delaying it so they can make this game better.

  • Improvements?
