The lights are on
Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition will bring BioWare's D&D classic, its expansion pack, some new content and a whole new party member to Apple's tablet later this year. You'll be able to relive the shame of dying to kobolds in full HD glory soon.
Overhaul Games is behind the port, which boasts an "upgraded and improved" version of the Infinity Engine that the Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, and Fallout series all ran under the hood. It's not clear if BioWare has any connection to the project other than giving its blessing. However it shakes out, it's not like the new character is going to be able to hold a candle to Minsc anyway.
The worst part about this news: It's not Baldur's Gate II. Don't get me wrong; I adore Baldur's Gate and greet this announcement with enthusiasm, but the sequel is a superior game in all respects. Heck, you can make a case for BG II as the greatest RPG of all time.
Still, I applaud anything that increases the amount of isometric old-school Dungeons & Dragons in the world.
I would love for both to come out on more platforms.
This will be the first game on my IPad. Once installed, I might actually use this tablet more often!
Not iPod? :(
Never played it, though gonna have to now :)
Is this not being released on any other platforms? That would be a pretty unwise move, in my opinion.
I have played all of the Bioware D&D game to completion a while back now. I rebought them on Impulse because of a sale, and, I can't wait for this and the enhanced edition of Baldur's gate. Just more reasons to play the games again.
does this support Ipod touch also?
Its not 2?? Bah I beat the first one with all of the DLCs a year a go and almost started on two but zoned out to some of the current gen title at the time (Dead Space)...
Bah looks like I am not getting this one since I agree with Adam. I want Irenicus...
If it controls well, I might have to check this out.
Sweet Zombie Jesus how do I give them my money?!
Maybe Ipad is useful?
Actually the fallout games did not run on the Infinity Engine, just to point that out.
I LOVE Baldur's Gate. Both the original and #2. This makes me actually want an Ipad. You just know that if it does well they're gonna do the same thing for BG2.
Wish there was a way to bring it to smarphones, but I'm afraid the screeens might just be too small (considering the small text lines in the game). Maybe there's a way they could adapt it!
Honestly, I don't care for the ipad. Not right now at least.
Aren't they doing BGII as well? I thought it said so in an other article? Maybe not for the iPad, but why would they remake both for the PC and not release BGII for iPad? Sounds strange..
Why does it have to be on the iPad though? I want it for PC!
