The lights are on
Capcom may be regretting putting download content on the game disc for Street Fighter X Tekken.
The DLC was supposed to start rolling out this April, with the 12 additional fighters made available after the PlayStation Vita version launches this fall. Xbox 360 hackers, however, have already accessed the content and have begun playing locked fighters online. Videos are already surfacing on YouTube capturing the action (see below).
Capcom's SVP Christian Svensson acknowledged the problem and says they are working with Microsoft to track down and ban the hackers.
"Yes, we're seeing news of this. Quite ballsy for folks to be taking hacked Xbox 360s on Live where they are detectable," he said. "In any event, we already have opened channels of communication with MS on these issues Friday night. If you can capture screens or video of this in action (as some have already) we're working on bans for boxes and accounts with MS for haxxors."
Capcom previously said Blanka, Sakura, Guy, Cody, Elena, Dudley, Alisa, Bryan, Christie, Jack, Lars and Lei will all become downloadable for the console version of the game for $20.
yeah if we purchased the disc then everything on it should be ours to access.
Or maybe, they could cut the *** DLC just to squeeze more nickels and dimes out of the gamer.
I mean, I understand coming with new content AFTER the game is out and about for a while - because you know they want to keep the fan base happy and things fresh. Adding DLC right off the bat is just a grievance to the wallet.
True, it is optional, but they should expect that not all are going to agree with their *** tactics.
You reap what you sow Capcom.
Putting DLC on the disc is sorta asking for it, Capcom.
While I don't condone what the hackers are doing, I also don't agree with the whole DLC on the disk issue to begin with. If you put the DLC on the disk, it's already complete (or mostly so) and should be accessible. "Unlocking" disk based DLC is a ripoff.
Well it looks like Capcom got busted. Really sad because growing up Capcom made some of my favorite games, but to see these kind of antics where a game company can develop a game and put future DLC clearly on the disc just waiting to be unlocked by buying it is absurd.
Shame it had to come to this to expose the full depth of this situation as I'm sure anyone who's bought the game probably isn't happy seeing what these guys uncovered by 'hacking' or however you want to put it.
I dont think they have the right to ban them, when people pay for a game, they pay for EVERYTHING on the disc, the 12 characters were on the disc, as well as Megaman and Pac-man, therefore, we should not need to pay for them, it would be a different story if it were incomplete, but the fact that these hackers could play as them, means that they were finished and playable, we own those characters! It would be fine if it was a "If you get this game new, you get these 12 characters free, and if you get it used or rent it, you have to pay maybe $5-$20 for these 12 characters" but Capcom's being incredibly cheap and saying "unless you get this game for the Vita, you have to pay $20 for these characters".
I'm sure someone's already said this, but it's "quite ballsy" for developers to release a disc with DLC on it, and then start banning people for simply playing with what is already on the disc that they paid for.
I actually kinda saw this coming unfortunately. I understand people want some new content but at the expense of having your account banned it's totally not worth it. Hell, it's not worth it even if your account doesn't get banned. Just wait for Capcom to release the content.
I for one hate on disk DLC, and Capcom loves to do this all the time.
lets see....coming from Capcom....this is no surprise people.
Is it really hacking if it's already there to begin with? Hmm...
Good! Looks like someone actually got there moneys worth form a 60 dollar game then. EA and Capcom are getting to money hungry for me to support them anymore. I've been boycotting them both for a while now.
Does anyone see an issue with Blanka being DLC? WT. . . . he is an original in the series; he should have been included in the original content of the game. Not as DLC, ughh!
i think this is what we all should do, i totally support them and i will do it,..this will serve as a lesson to companies like capcom that will try to steal from us....this will just make piracy the best option since greed has taken over the industry....i will learn this and do it at home..
