Hackers Unlock On-Disc Street Fighter X Tekken DLC

Capcom may be regretting putting download content on the game disc for Street Fighter X Tekken.

The DLC was supposed to start rolling out this April, with the 12 additional fighters made available after the PlayStation Vita version launches this fall. Xbox 360 hackers, however, have already accessed the content and have begun playing locked fighters online. Videos are already surfacing on YouTube capturing the action (see below).

Capcom's SVP Christian Svensson acknowledged the problem and says they are working with Microsoft to track down and ban the hackers.

"Yes, we're seeing news of this. Quite ballsy for folks to be taking hacked Xbox 360s on Live where they are detectable," he said. "In any event, we already have opened channels of communication with MS on these issues Friday night. If you can capture screens or video of this in action (as some have already) we're working on bans for boxes and accounts with MS for haxxors."

Capcom previously said Blanka, Sakura, Guy, Cody, Elena, Dudley, Alisa, Bryan, Christie, Jack, Lars and Lei will all become downloadable for the console version of the game for $20.

  • WOOF. I don't really like the fact that people are doing this, but I'm quite certain a lot of people won't blame them. The whole on disc debacle is pretty annoying, but I still wouldn't stoop to this. Just my opinion however.
  • Looool. Talk about Bioware fail, Capcom fails 100x harder.
  • My opinion? Serves em right. I'm not always for the hackers in most cases, but in my opinion, there's something wrong about hiding DLC in a product that I purchase and have to pay more money to unlock. Capcom is just cheezing and abusing the whole DLC concept altogether.
  • not much to say..

  • Still not a fan of hackers. But I'm less of a fan of putting content on disc, calling it DLC AND THEN charging people for it. Hacking doesn't involve lying to paying customers.
  • And this is why you don't put DLC on the disks.
  • "Arg me captain. Look at this plentiful booty hiding in this disc. See where it says X in the title? Thar be treasure DLC there".
  • I can't really be mad at them for this. Paying to unlock a part of a disc sucks, especially when I've already payed over $60.
  • WHOABOY!
  • Sucks for Capcom.
  • Good news im glad some one hacker or not is blowing the lid on dlc scams and how were paying $60 for them to lock us out of content thats already on the disc. were basicly paying them $20 extra to enjoy the full game on our disc.
  • Old news is old. This hopefully should not keep people from buying this game. Disappointed to know that the DLC is there and it exists? yes, a little bit. It's Downloadable Content, not DISC-LOCKED CONTENT. Disappointed with this game? No. It's a fun game that reminds me of the games that I used to play back in the late 90's, early 2000's. Fighting games where it meant to play at the highest level possible, and one small mistake can lose you the match. No more comebacks because of Ultras or X-Factor. Just good, clean fighting. I am, by no way, a huge fan of Capcom fighting games, and I still stick by in playing Guilty Gear, BlazBlue, KoF XIII, among others, but I say it's a solid fighting games among others that have tried to follow the influx of new fighting game era. ~Saka
  • Lets see how may idiots will actually pay for the Disc Locked Content.
  • just dont understand what happened to these companys. In the past we have had fighting games with 10s of characters all on the disc right away available or unlockable through PLAYING the GAME, this whole "buy more characters" thing is really really upsetting. I haven't bought a fighting game since MK 9, and couldn't even buy Freddy after being frustrated that these characters could have been implemented on the original. Previous to that was tekken 5 which had like 35-40 characters all available with no added DLC. I just dont get it!!! Don't sell the game for $60 if it's not completed or things can't be unlocked by playing the game. If this was maybe 39.99$ I'm sure nobody would have a problem with DLC on disc. but since they are wayyy over priced, people don't want to be dishing out more than they should. I won't buy DLC characters anymore... I mean I am getting the Vita edition of MK and it has all the characters and everything in it's console counterpart- including the DLC that was released and additional content and it is supposedly $39.99. Just here the logic tells me that these games shouldn't be as expensive as what they are and these devs are CHOOSING to do this crap.
  • Serves Capcom right if you ask me.

  • Welp, that's what you get for putting it on there and trying to take more money from us. Tough economy punk, deal with it. I'm tired of fighting games business maneuvers anyway, especially Capcom. I already paid 60 bucks for it, NOW you want me to pay another 20 bucks for some characters, or ALTERNATE COSTUMES! Seriously, go tally up the cost of buying every single costume for Street Fighter or Marvel VS Capcom. I don't wanna see some lame retort like "Well you don't HAVE to buy it" because that's not the point. It's a direct insult to sit there and tell me that I have to pay for something that's already on there. Freddy Krueger anyone? Pfft. I don't care about their money problems. They don't care about mine and, quite frankly, they make more money than the average bear.
  • This is one time i side with the hackers. Its like going to get a burger and once its handed to that told that you may not consume till a later date and that you must pay for the condiments. I mean I bought the game and the dlc was on it when I bought it. So shouldn't that mean that since i own the game i own the dlc as well. DBAT!
  • What a bunch of asses! Horrible It's becoming usual practice  in the industry...

  • Well, there are two funny things here. 1.) That Capcom got caught with on-disc DLC. 2.) That they plan to track down and ban the hackers. I approve of the anger at Capcom, but I also approve of Capcom's planned response.
  • You knew this was going to happen sooner or later. I don't condone this whatsoever, but I don't blame them for doing it either.
