EA Shutting Down More Game Servers

Starting in April, EA will shut down online servers for 11 games, including The Saboteur, Spare Parts, and MMA.

On April 13, 2012, the following games will no longer have online services:

BOOM BLOX Bash Party for Wii

Burnout Revenge for Xbox 360

EA Create for PC, PlayStation 3, Wii and Xbox 360

EA Sports Active 2.0 for PlayStation 3, Wii and Xbox 360

EA Sports Active NFL Training Camp for Wii

FIFA 10 for PlayStation Portable and Wii

The Godfather II for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360

MMA for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360

Need for Speed ProStreet for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360

The Saboteur (loss of The Midnight Club access) for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360

Spare Parts for PlayStation 3 Xbox 360

"The decisions to retire older EA games are never easy," EA said. "The development teams and operational staff pour their hearts into these games almost as much as the customers playing them and it is hard to see one retired. But as games get replaced with newer titles, the number of players still enjoying the older games dwindles to a level -- fewer than 1% of all peak online players across all EA titles -- where it’s no longer feasible to continue the behind-the-scenes work involved with keeping these games up and running.

"We would rather our hard-working engineering and IT staff focus on keeping a positive experience for the other 99% of customers playing our more popular games.  We hope you have gotten many hours of enjoyment out of the games and we appreciate your ongoing patronage."

  • NNNNNNNOOOOOOOO!!!!
    P.S. First.
  • almost no one will be affected by this, but better believe people will complain
  • Not Boom Blox!!!

  • Are any of these games going to be rendered unplayable after the servers go down, either due to "always online" requirements or necessary updates to make the game function properly offline?
  • Looks like I'll have to play Create again soon. I noticed it had some achievements related to uploading your own puzzles, downloading someone elses and such when I first started playing it. I remember having a bunch of connection issues when I tried to get those achievements (could never connect to EA servers), so I kind of forgot about them.

  • I'm surprised they didn't shut down servers for Burnout Revenge earlier. Man, that game was so much fun. ^_^
  • A shame really, I was considering trying out The Godfather 2 or The Saboteur. There will probably be people upset over Burnout Revenge however, that game still has a small but dedicated fanbase.
  • Why is there even a 'The Saboteur' server? I thought I downloaded 'The Midnight Club'? Does this mean you can't access it at all, even if you downloaded it? Or you just can't download it anymore if you haven't already? Either way, doesn't matter. I still say 'The Saboteur' is one of the most under-rated games... it's awesome!
  • It's too bad this has to happen.

  • So now I cant get Spare Parts plat

  • I'm surprised Dead Space 2 is still up, I don't know anyone that still plays it
  • Thank goodness skate is ok
  • This is the number one reason trophy/achievement hunters like us hate online trophies.
  • Had to happen eventually, sadly.

  • by shutting down mma, theyre essentially giving all the fans a reason to buy ufc undisputed over their game, giving up on the sport as a whole. shame on you EA

  • a few of these are slight suprises, but not many.

  • It kinda stinks to see pro street on there I don't have it but i play it at a friends

  • I just bought Saboteur.  Doh..
