Disney Pixar Announces Brave: The Video Game

by Jeff Cork on Mar 19, 2012 at 07:13 AM

Pixar's upcoming movie Brave is hitting theaters this summer, and Disney Pixar has announced that a game is in the works, too. In Brave: The Video Game, players will take on the role of Merida, the game's spunky heroine. If that doesn't float your boat, you can also play as a bear.

“We’re excited to offer a compelling game across multiple platforms for fans of the upcoming Disney Pixar film ‘Brave.’ Whether gamers want to play on their own or with others, they can relive highlights from Merida’s journey and go on new adventures inspired by the legends of Scotland and Disney Pixar storytelling,” said Javier Ferreira, senior vice president of publishing, Disney Interactive Media Group. “With Kinect for Xbox 360 and Move on the PlayStation 3, gamers will feel like they are using a bow and arrow in an archery range and have a truly immersive experience.”

A family friendly co-op based game sounds fine, but the game's Bear Mode sounds particularly interesting. Disney Pixar isn't saying much about it at this point, aside from the fact that "players will be able to play as a bear." OK then. Look for Brave: The Video Game on the DS, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC this summer.
